Help with Tweeters

Hey,can anyone help me out??
I just recently blew my tweeters which set close to the windows. i was wondering what size they are to be exact? i think they are 1" but does it matter how big they are? and what are the differences in tweeters? some say- dome tweeter, satellite tweeter, 2way-mount tweeter and crossovers.. i dont understand any of this and was wondering if anyone can explain or jst tell me what i need. haha thanks

Its some goofy stock tweeter. You wont get a direct after market replacement.

If you dont intend on opening a can of worms, I would suggest checking your local yards for a set of sail panels and just swap the whole corner/tweeter out.

its not that big of a deal, mine arent even wired up. there are tweeters in my 6x9's...

^ Have you heard the difference when the tweeters are plugged in compared to when they're not? Its sounds a TON better with them plugged in.

yeh? didnt make a big difference in my car. especially bc my speakers are all aftermarket and i STILL HAVE TWEETERS... just in the rear.

but i dont know my way around audio too well. what do i know?

^ didn't mean to offend you in any way, i'm just saying that (at least in my car) even with everything aftermarket, its still a big difference in the high notes when the tweeters are unplugged. You probably spent more on speakers than me and got separate tweetes from the woofers in the rear. Didn't mean to sound like i'm saying your an idiot.

i unhooked my tweeters too, since my aftermarket 4x6 & 6x9s all have tweets

Well the stock speakers are just whizzer double cone mids.

Unhooking that tweeter is just a bad idea for this guy.


Also not having a tweeter up front is plain silly. The rears just detract that much more from the front stage. Im going to drive down there and kidnap you, make you listen to a properly tuned radio, then toss you out at your door step. That way you know what properly tuned is :scpimp:

Un hooking them with having aftermarket 4x6, 5.25 and 6.5 in the front is fine, pending they have a tweeter. Only issue with that is the amount of plastic that muffles the tweeter... Damn GM.

um i guess that really doesn't help me.. i just wanted to know if you can replace them because i still have stock 4x6's and my 6x9's are blown but im replacing them eventually. and i want tweets in the front because i have subs in the back and that distorts the clarity of the music when its that close to the woofers.

If you dont get an exact replacement you will have to mod the sail panels...

Whatever tweeters you get will have different mounting cups with them.

Remove the tweeter from the cup. Select the one that will work best.

Take the stock tweeter out.

Grab a dremel tool with a roll sander in it. Make the round hole bigger. Put your tweeter cup in, tape in place. Assemble and get your tweeter aimed right where you want it. Tape in place GOOD.

Epoxy up the back side. Once dry mix up some Bondo. Use your finger to just fill and fillet the gap left. Sand and paint. Done!

Should look like that before bondoing. Will get a pic of finished cup/pillar tonight.

I was thinking about doing that,but my question is what color matches the factory color, or are you going to change the color all together?

I sprayed mine flat black.

I just did a ford focus a few months back. It was grey. Ended up spraying it with grey primer from Dollar General. Almost perfect match...

Thanks now just need to pick out a decent set of of componets and 6x9's
