hey guys... since i got my new wrx, i gave the ho to the girlfriend... well she's been bitchin about a clunking noise so i took it for a spin and sure enough... sounds shitty. i dunno if it's cv joints, or axles, or what... i do know i need to replace one if not both of the hubs... but what is the clunk and more importantly, how much am i looking at to get it fixed? anyone who's had the prob... how much $ did you spend?

well I had a clunk too and i brought it to the dealership where i bought it they said it was the wheel barreing Soo you have to repacle the hole hub witch they did Then 4 months later the other side did the same thing Like CV joint will go CLUNK CLUNK constantly Mine was just a clunk when i started to move or back up it would only clunk once. Wheel hub ur looking at 160.

i just replaced both CV's on my integra, and they were, well, cheaper than i thought they would be. they were about $130 for the pair. basically, the boots were torn and they were making the clacking sound as they lost all the grease. thats my experience with them, though none with the alero...

Hey guys, i am getting a wierd clacking noise from the passenger side over smooth bumps only when i am at speed not when i accel or deccel. Would this be a bad CV? I dont think its a wheel bearing since it doesnt do it all the time or rythmicly. I also have a whirr as i turn the steering wheel. Its not the power steering as i replaced the pump last winter. Advice would be helpful. What is the best way to check my CV's?
