Exel Wheels for Alero

Okay..here's the deal..I just got my wheels in today via UPS and on the invoice it says "wheel spacers required" and I want to know if this is true because the people at wheelmax are retarded and dont know what they're talking about..they told me I can purchase them at ANY local auto store and I checked Autozone and Advance Auto Parts (2 big ass chains) and neither carried them so..that's obviously WRONG lol....I havn't tried to mount them yet but I just thought i'd check before I did to maybe save some time for myself. If anyone has bought aftermarket wheels and NEEDED spacers, PLEASE tell me!! (i am NOT talking about hub-centric rings)

Post the offset, and lug pattren... and we'll be able to tell you... bolt em on and try.. if they bolt and dont rub, or hit the caliper.. then its all good :thumbsup:

i have 18" exel h50 chrome they ask me for spacers to they just want to gt more money out of u dont worry about it will be fine with out it i had my rims for alomst 2 years and they are straight

Ebay!! I couldn't find that color of green ANYWHERE..only "green" local places had was like a Teal <_< So I went on ebay and typed in "green wire loom(s)"..i tried both singular and plural and found a guy who sells a TON of it in LOTS of colors CHEAP AS HELL TOO! I got like 4-15' rolls and matching zipties (3 packs of em) for $15.99 i think..UNDER $20.00 i KNOW

whiteOSV what size did you go with? those 17s? and can tell, lowered? or no, it looks like stock height..

They are HYPERBLACK (not gunmetal...lighter than gunmetal)....and they are 17's on 215/45/17 Toyo Proxes FZ4 tires and YES it is stock height not..NOT lowered...but it will be lowered hopefully by the end of May :thumbsup: thanks man for the comments.

Maybe not for Excell wheels but some aftermarket wheels do need spacers for rear drum breaks. I purchased ADR wheels, and after I installed them (with hubcentric rings) there was space between the drums and the back of the wheel (the wheels are +40 offset). That was causing the drums to rattle when hitting bumps, not to mention that the shoes where no longer matched up with the drum correctly. After pulling my hair out for a day, I bought some 5/8" spacers and the wheel mounted perfectly, and it DID NOT push the wheel out at all. I have never heard of this happening before, but maybe the people at Wheelmax have, and thougt you had drums in the back.

BTW the wheels look GREAT!

5/8" spacers will push your wheel out by 5/8".... thats what they do. right?

That's what I thought. But, (and I hope i'm explaining this correctly) when the wheel was mounted on the hub, the wheel fit on the hub nicely but there was still space (about 5/8") between the drum and the back of the wheel. I was actually able to reach my hand between the spokes in the wheel, and move the drum back and forth. And that was with the wheel bolted down, strange I know. I noticed that the drums would move about 5/8" outward before they hit the back of the wheel so I bought the 5/8" spacers and the took up that space. Now the center of the wheel is still fitting correctly on the hub and hubcentric rings, and the back of the wheel is flush against the spacer, which of course is flush on the drum. I did one side at a time and the side with the spacer looked to my eyes the same as the side without. I have never heard of this happening before, and I did not have any problems with the discs in the front. Maybe this is unique to ADR wheels...

Yuppp thats what they do :) .. I heard you shouldnt really have to put spacers on, and if you do it will never be quite as good as a nice perfectly fitting wheel.. hey just call me Mr.Obvious.. LoL

Spacers suck. My coworker has a couple of spacers to help her fit dubs under her accord and they look really really really stupid.
