i want to add a little bass to my stock setup (2000 gls ) i was thinking 1 10" and new 6x9 's. what is the best bang for the buck? pics of custom boxes? ( i still want to use my trunk) how much amp for both 10" and 6x9's ( 3 channel)?

if you want alot of bump, forget the 6x9s and just get all sub. 2x10s work well for me. but 12s fit like they were ment for our trunks. 6x9s give you a little back fill... but your sub will over power them anyday.

That will be louder than many mediocre pair of 12's. The bass shoots right up where the 6x9's were ;)

You dont need the 6x9's with a sub!

It fits right up behind the seats. Fits between the shock towers.

You loose 11" of trunk ;)

I'm a car audio expert and I'll tell you, if you put two 12" competition Digital Designs (3400 Series) or two 12" competition Crossfire P1's with a 1400 watt Crossfire amp, which pushes like 1850 watts max, and put them in the right sized and ported box, you truck will have about a 140-165 dB bump in it. You would also have to add another battery, I prefer Optima Red Top, or Odessy. It might cost some money, but it will look good and sound amazing, and you'll still have some truck space left.

i think 165 db is a little more bump then i want. SQ is the route i want to go i drive 1 hr one way to work mon-fri. and i want a little more bass not a comp system ( been there done that ) . i just wanted opions of what works in alero's.

heres the plan :
10" sub (middle of the road value)
400 watt amp
mdf and fiberglass inclosure in the corner of the trunk firing right to left
new 6 x 9 three ways
possible a small amp for the 6x9's

or
get a three chanel amp for the sub and 6x9's

Hey I hit a 140 with two Volfenhag Aluminum Competition 12" subs in a Sealed Pre-Fabbed Box with a 500watt Discountinued Soundstorm Labratories Amp. And the Mic was on the Dash. I hit a 137.9 Outlaw.

Ok, why a 400 wrms amp? You need to choose the amp in accordance with the sub ;) Also corner loading is alright, but its not to spectacular.

Also replacing the rear 6x9's is a quality degrade. You would be light years ahead replacing the front speakers with quality components and amping them!

Im an SQL/SQ guy. So Ive tried a few different things in my time... Ive done the 220 WRMS 6x9 4 ways... Sure its loud as shlt, but its loud BEHIND you...

They were actually given to me by my nephew but you can get them with the box brand new for like 239.00 each. There descent subs but they take up a shit load of space. I don't think that I am going to use them much longer, thinking about putting my twelves back in. Might be getting rid of the L5's. You can get these from crutchfield, online, circuitcity, and at a discounted price I think. They will put alot of bump in the trunk tho, I've been playing with my amp and crossover levels all day and final found a happy medium. One of these is enough, but two is one to many. Good luck with your search.

What mic?

I did 140 with a single 12" Sound Storm Slade, which is a laughable sub at best- its sound storm...

I always have to question a "car audio expert" especially when they are self proclaimed and speak in "max watts"... I do know there are thousands upon thousands of so called experts that dont know squat about squat... They claim to be experts, then people take their advice, which generally is piss poor advice at best...

I call it Volfenfag for a reason...

That stuff is straight up garbage. Its marketed under the guise of being German made, but its now changed to "German Concept" lol.

I will admit, for 10 feet away it kind of looks good, the red. When you get up close you can see all the little issues with it. You get what you pay for, I cant comprehend why so many people are dense to this... That $50 sub is a $50 sub....lol

I cant understand why some people consider themselves experts when clearly they aint close. Hooking up yours and your cousins bangin system does NOT make you an expert...

Engineering boxes to extract the all from subwoofers, toying around with some of the best equipment around and getting sponsorships STILL doesnt make me an expert. I do however know a lot and what I dont know I know people who do...

Hey I have three degrees in car audio and sound engineering and the mic is on the Turn-lab. The only reason I used Volfenhag Subs is b/c they are cheap and they are loud. I've built more car audio systems than you probably seen your entire life. Do you know the Legal IASCA Record holder, the one that hit a 178.6 on the Turn-Lab? That's my boss, Mike Jones of Custom Sound Works in Lubbock, Tx, and I helped build that Caravan. So if you think you can top that, just try me.

I could give a rats asz who you know or think you know, or any car audio degree (never heard of it?).

You come up in here blowing a trumpet made of BS Im going to call it. Like it or not.

Turn=lab? Whats that a knock off of Term=Lab?

140-165 dB is a spectrum so wide why even bother stating it?

Max watts? Whats that? How often will an amp peak and for how long? Why is it important to know your max watts?

My left nut says 2 12" Volfenfag subs in a sealed prefab wont hit 140 dB legal on a Term lab. Get real. My boy has 4 15" subs that weigh in 72Lbs each, that he builds. He has 4,000 WRMS going to each sub with an electrical system that can power a small village. Hes doing mid 140's with a wall...

Im not sure of your experience and quite honestly I dont care. Ive been in the hobby for a long time now and have installed and owned countless systems, some of the best money can buy...

it is just an estamate for an amp. i have a pair of mb quart seperates i plan on putting in my doors. 6x9s and a sub i found a good deal on a 600 watt amp about 300 sub and 150 each 6x9 ( i know it is less ). the sub firing depends on what i build for the trunk or if i get a prefab.

ive seen your site i think that you know your s**t. :thumb:

In our Competition caravan we have five 15" Digital Design 9500 Series Quad Coil subs and we push about 4,000 watts to each voice coil. Total watts in the whole vehicle is about 60,000 watts or straight Crossfire Power and we also have about 22 16 volt Batcaps to give it life. That's how we got the world record and that's how we retired Alma Gates at Texas Heat Wave. I got my degrees at Mobile Dynamics: Car Audio Schools. Look it up and then we will see who's bullshitting then.:yahoo:

So you looked up a few places that hands out certificates?

You cant even get names and simple terminology correct. I havent looked it up, but an actual "Degree" has to be approved by the department of education... I dont see Car Audio as a major in College otherwise I would be taking it...

You state BS parameters.

You have failed to provide one OUNCE of information thus far in the Car Audio section that Ive noticed...

Then to top it off claim a 140 off two 12 Volfenfag in a sealed box... GTFO or get real...
