Well.. heres the story..

My wifes best friend has a 2004 Alero GL sedan 2.2, white with brown interior.
her ex had it and "was" making the payments for her but he stopped, so we went a "repoed" it. She still owes 7k and cant afford it, so I can take it over if I want to. It was supposed to have 70k miles on it but, its got 97k. one of the rear tires is out of balance so its got a 65mph shake... the front fascia has a receiver hitch hole in it, and the driver side front fender is damged a bit. i can fix both of those things pretty easy, question is do i want to? Interior wise, the carpets have minor stains, but the driver side has a dime size hole worn in it. some of the buttons on the A/C and the radio are worn through.

Otherwise, not too much wrong with it.

so, the question is... do i take over the car or not? If I take it over, its getting a complete redo inside and out. no more white with brown interior.. No offense, but I hate those colors... LOL

I just bought an 03 with 22k miles for $8500. I think you could get a better one for $7k.

doesn't sound worth it, I'd think you'd be upside down on it from the start and stay that way.

for an '04 with 90k+ miles, wouldn't be worth anywhere near that much with the damage you mentioned.

Welcome aboard. He obviously didn't take good care of it and you can do much better buying a cleaner Alero for the same or less money.

well, I have the car for now, not exactly thrilled.. My wifes best friend isn't in a position to keep paying it, but she doesnt want it to get reposesed(SP)

My wife and her "arranged" for me to take care of the repairs, already have the fender and bumper on standby order. got new tires line up also.. going to get the error codes checked and strt looking into getting rid of it for her...

on the flip side, my wife told me if i keep it I can do "whatever" i want with it.
