Indiglo Gauges

Ok guys, I got the white indiglo gauges a few months back for $50 and tried wiring them in then and it didn't work well at all. I used the wire from the cubby hole light to wire them in. What happens is when i put the black wire (from gauges) to the white wire (cubby wire) and the red wire (from gauges) to the black wire (cubby wire), nothing happens. But, if i rub one of the wires (ex: black to white) while keeping the other one connected, the lights flicker on and off!!! WTF!?!?!? I can't figure this out! It did the same thing when I tried it on the car battery. Is there something wrong with them? I'll wire them up and turn on the parking lights and NOTHING. They have to be rubbed to generate a current, and even then, the gauges just flicker on and off. Hopefully someone out there has a suggestion, or will just tell me what I don't want to hear; that these gauges are toast.

If you hooked them up backwards, there is a chance that you fried them.

But do this... take the black control module and make sure that there aren't any loose wires in there. Out of the 150 or so sets of gauges I've sold in the last 2 years in group buys, one set had a loose wire in the black control module.

Ok, checked them for loose wires and it's kosher there. The control module heats up a lot when i put the wires together. It just doesn't make sense though. Would the lights not even work if the module was fried? I dono, it's weird. If I can't get em to work, I"ll just have to wait till the next group buy and try it again. Thanks again naich.

if the lights flicker on, than my best guess is that there is a loose wire in there somewhere. Maybe try opening the sealed black box and check in there for loose connections.

If your bord is heating up that means you have created a short. check your connections again. if youve got an ohm meter use it to see where your - and + are before you make that connection. If your getting a big resistance on the bord side that means you didnt blow it, if you get nothing that means it went boom.
