I am now seriously looking into the shift kit, the install look simple enough, im just worried about what it will do to a 115K trans. I figure if your easy on it and not constantly at WOT youll be ok i just want some feed back on the trans reliability after installing and using this.

you only activate it during racing, its bad to leave it on. should be fine

the only downside to it is that you can only activate it before the cars on. As so i heard

ok with the B&M here's the deal. it doesn't hurt the tranny unless you use it all the time or use it on very hot days in heavy traffic. it gets the tranny fluid hottoer due to the higher pressure. if you use it once in awhile then no problems.

the theory of beibng able to only turn it on when the car is off i have busted that myth. you can turn it on when the car is running but only turn it off when the car is off. but there is a trick to it.

I've left mine turned on setting 2 (the hardest shifting setting) and driven the car daily like that for the past 2 years, and over a year and a half of that was with the turbo. There have been absolutely no ill effects from it. I don't know why everyone says it will do bad things.

Me neither. I use it all the time in our truck (granted, usually in the winter when plowing) on setting 2 with no adverse effects.

i know for a fact that with it on setting 1 or 2 i can here the pump working harder and if in heavy traffic the tranny fluid gets too hot that it will start to slip when you go from P to D or to R

the 2.2 auto has a 4t40 tranny which is the same tranny that the 2.4 has so it will work with a 2.2 auto.

I've never had any slippage problems, even in very heavy traffic. I can sort of hear the pump, but it's very faint, and only in first gear when I'm at WOT.

what exactly does it do

Oldsman

it increases you line pressure in the tranny giving it harder and faster shifts which gives it that neck snapping shift. Also it reduces the wear on the clutches in the tranny because it reduces slippage

do they make one for the 3.4s?

95K, and you've had yours on longer than I have, maybe that's why we're seeing different reactions. Who knows, maybe in another 2 years, or even earlier, mine may start doing the same thing.

is it easy to install? it looks like just 1 cable

Spilner521

It's one cable with 2 wires coming out of it at the end. You splice into either the large main plug going into the front of the transmission, or into the wires connected to the PCM. It's pretty easy - 10-15 minute job.
