I have a set of 6.5 mb quart seperates i want to put in my alero. can i fit them in the rear in place of the 6x9's or in the front doors ? don't want to do any custom kick panels and such at this time.

you'd be wasting the speakers putting them in the back.

you can take the 4x6s out, along with the black adapter thing, and 6.5 SHOULD fit in the door. (just need a spacer so they aren't mounting directly to the metal.

megabyte posted these pics of his doors a while back. so, yes, it is possible. i thought the window would hit the speaker, but apparently not.

fyi, he made his own speaker adapter.

I don't see why you would buy those... bit of Plyboard, Jigsaw, and a bit of sandpaper.

Cost to effort ratio. They were cheap enough.

if i have extra wood laying around i'll make my own. if not, screw it, i'll buy some off ebay. ~25 and a little wait for shipping is better then dicking around trying to get the wood to fit right.

I got some laying around for 5.25" speakers.

I was thinking of making more. The door is a little small for 6.5" mids.

^what do you mean "a little small"?? depth wise, height wise... etc? more detail needed, please....

Look at the doors opening for the speaker. Its 4x6... Which makes it on the small side for a 6.5" speaker.

ok.... so that means you take the black rubber adapter off, then maybe take a dremel to the metal, if your magnet is too large....

i'd say thats better then buying/making kick panels.

That is EXACTLY what I had to do for mine... too easy to do really. Infiniti Reference line of speakers fit in there without any issues.

i think i might want to glass the 6.5" in the doors. any one do this?

where is the best place to get resin and glass ?

My god what is that?

Im glassing my 5.25" comps into them pods, but it wont look like that...lol

The only way that simple trim board will work is with shallow mount speakers. If its a standard speaker forget about it!

Heck my fiberglass adapters stand out the height of the plastic counterparts and my Rainbows were only a little off the glass...lol

Im not one to grind/cut my cars unless needed. I mean, why? You can avoid it...

yeah, but i haven't seen a kick panel done that looks good... on our cars. I'd rather keep the speaker hidden for a very minor bit of fab work.

lol,

I will get a pic or two of my pods I made up when i get internet at home again.

Its fairly simple, basically a replacement of the plastic ones. You do get 3 lovely holes per door via sheet metal screws. Which is better than cutting away the door. In a pinch, you can put the plastic stock ones back in no issues...

ok so if i were to change my fronts what would you recomend (sp) ?

i think the 6.5 idea is a little more work then i want to do right now. i would like to keep the factory tweeter and go after market lower doors. i don't want to do seperates

Ryan from Ohio

5.25" mid bass

The factory tweeters are OK in a factory environment. As soon as you change the mid or head unit out its not good.
