Has anyone used these? are they worth the extra dollars? I'm looking at these and the NGK G Power Platinum which is about half the cost.

"These NGK Iridium IX spark plugs feature an ultra fine center electrode that's designed not too thin to ensure maximum durability and life of the spark plug and not too thick for an accurate and consistent spark. They represent the ultimate evolution of spark plug technology and performance. Iridium is significantly stronger than any metal used in spark plugs today. It's the hardest metal used (in fact, iridium is 6 times harder than platinum) which has allowed NGK engineers to design an ultra fine center electrode reducing the voltage requirement for spark."

thanks

Everybody here praises them but to tell the truth I just used some mid grade champion spark plugs and love'd them. You could pay more for those but my question is WHY?

i bought the mid grade champ ones aswell, you dont need to go crazy unless your building the engine and it requires more spark

I have NGK v-power. They have been great. I put them in 4 years ago and no issues. I won't put anything else in my car.

i just use stock ac's in my alero. I tried bosch for a while, NEVER DO THAT!!! they suck so bad!
Iridium IX are really good plugs though. I put them in some friends vehicles and they wrok realy nice. I put a set in my snowmobile, it idles a lot smoother and seems just a bit crisper right out of the hole. Other than that there isn't much difference b\t them and regular NGK's.

You should have seen how bad the AC Delcos looked when I pulled them out of the car. I'm surprised it was still running. Going to get the boots today and put in, and the price isn't bad either....a set for 18 bucks.

I have been using "Denso Iridium plugs" for 2 years now in My 2.4 & no problems with them.

AC DELCO Platinums are going for $9.50 a plug here. I can get two NGK Iridiums for $15.99 or G Power Platinums 2@$7.99

Holy crap they are raping you with the pricing could be cheaper for someone to get them for you and you add some for shipping. They don't offer champion's there?

Wow, now I'm not downing them at all but just don't see the reason to pay such a price for them. I guess though if you are going to leave them in there for a while (like 5yrs) thats cool to each his own. When do you change them 440? Like every 5yrs or so, or do you go by mileage?

I put them in when I bought the car cuz the originals were bad. The car had 56K on it, I have owned it for 4 years and have 113K on it. I'm sure the car will crap out before I have to change them again.

I pulled one of the plugs today. I bought the car last year and have no record of when they were last changed. I was running AC Delco Platinums (41-963). There's a small chip in the insulator around the electrode with I believe would indicate a high operating temperature(correct me if I'm wrong), but I'm also getting some carbon build up(?). Is there anything else I should be checking out before putting new plugs in?
thanks

There's not alot of selection or range in prices around here. And now with the dollar where it is, it is alot cheaper for me to purchase out of the states. I just hate to deal with shipping, taxes and border fees.
There's alot of crap going on with the fluctuation of the dollar. Some Retailers are slowly lowering prices as a result, but none that has benifitted me in any way.

The prices I quoted were a sale from Canadian tire/Part Source. Regular price is $19.99 for iridiums, and $9.99 for G-Powers. They don't have V-power available for the alero through C-tire.

Hmmm ... I'm using Bosch Platinum 2 plugs and they seem to be just fine for the 2.4 in my Alero.

I thought about getting those, but the guy I was speaking with said that the champions I bought were actually better then those. They also cam gapped a .050 which was cool so I didn't have to regap them even though our gap is suppose to be .060 I haven't had any problems. Notice a big difference in performance as well, and that shake you get when you stop is gone too. That's not to say that the Bosch's are crap but just passing the info.

thanksCheck your boots....what I mean by that is there is a spring in there and over time it becomes compressed. What I did with mine is took each spring out and stretched them then placed them back in the boots, and be careful with those boots because the outside of them is brittle depending on how long they have been in there.

We don't know how good we really got sometimes. Not in every thing but a few. When I worked a second job there was a guy there from Australia and he said he would spend $6.00 on a pack of cigarettes...Thank God I don't smoke, and at least not there. Good luck

I saw that they had replacement springs online that were suppost to have an improvement over the factory ones... any truth to these? I found them on ebay...

No. You won't notice any difference at all.

^^agreed a spring is a spring now it may be a little stiffer so it may not compress as quickly but the original took 7 years to compress so there you have it.

Players light.... 10 bucks a pack. A cheap pack here is 6.75...
