How bad is it using it....What is your MPG? Also, is your Service engine soon light on?

Yeah..then there is something wrong. You should go get it checked and see what the code is. I bet its a sensor of somekind..

i took it to the dealer to have it checked out but they couldn't do it because i had the code cleared out by auto zone ;) . now i'm just waiting for it to come back on.
by the way auto zone scanned it and said it was the O2 sensor.

Do you smell gas at all? Could be a leak, could be a sensor. Do you do any mod recently?

I had a similar problem, but no "Service Engine Soon" light. My car just started guzzling gas like crazy- come to find out, my K&N filter was dirty as hell! (I have a CAI with the filter in the fenderwell and I live down a dirt road :( ). That's the only thing I don't like about it- I have to clean the filter every 3.000-5,000 miles!

if u say your O2 sensor mite have gone bad that'll be your problem...i know when my O2 sensor went, i went from about 450km/tank, down to just over 200kms...

02 sensors are freakin expensive, plus there is 2 of them. does anyone know of a place to get them for cheap? my car is guzzling gas too and ive changed plugs, wires, air cleaner, fuel filter, no leaks anywhere. im thinkin thats what it has to be.

Bergs22: Mine was the O2 sensor. The light came on and the dealership said it was so I replaced.

No, you should get your O2 sensor replaced!!!! Jeez, you got it scanned, they told you what was wrong, and you didn't fix it.

It is probably the upstream O2 sensor. That is the one that helps to control fuel delivery. If the computer can not detect that sensor, it runs in an open loop fuel control mode, same as when your car is warming up. It is using other sensors (less efficiently) to determine proper fuel delivery. When this happens, it is programmed to run on the rich side, to be safe, thereby using more fuel.

for some reason ther service engine light comes on for a day or two then it goes out, what would be the reason for that?

Dude... it could be anything..
First off replace the Sensor... this will prolly fix the issue...
next time its on take it to a dealer and have them look at it... the're may be ecu updates/reflashes available....
Check your airfilter.... and make sure your exhaust is allright... if you bottemed out it may be crimped.. causing excessive back pressure...
But if autozone cleared the code, and found it to be for the o2 sensor then check it out.. and either check the wireing and test the one you have... if you know how too
Or replace it
IF the light comes on radomly... then it could be the wireing... an intermitant connection.. or faulty sensor...
