i figured that somebody already knew about it... i was just surprised that I found a poster of it in my basement... i did a google search and there were no pictures of the back of this car anyway, so i guess this may be a first rear shot of the alpha...

they crush them or put them into storage. i doubt the alero alpha car is around since it was really only a mock-up shell of a car. I heard that one of the 2 OSV's are in storage somewhere and that the green one was crushed. :(

just did a little research.... found this website for the alero alpha.

http://encyclopedia.classicoldsmobile.com/concept/alero.html

turns out, if GM had kept some of the nice features, our alero's would have had a removable glass roof, keyless entry, navigation system, and numerous high tech gadgets that would be state-of-the-art in even today's standards. Shame on GM for going cheap on us. with a car like that, Oldsmobile may have had a fighting chance.

Alpha go bye bye and only 1 of the 3 OSV's remains in storage. There were 2 red one and a green one.

I take it one of the red ones made it to storage? Where at? I actually saw the red one in person at the 04' homecoming. All I can say is nice... I also gots many pics:cool: . I even seen the OSV Intrigue I got some decent pics of the interior and engine compartmment at the R.E.Olds museum in Lansing. I could post'em this week sometime, and I have pics of other olds cars that got crushed to probably. I even got pics of the zebra alero car. Anyway if interested let me know.

I wouldn't mind if you posted the Intrigue OSV pics, I've only seen the ones on the internet to date. The Zebra Alero was next to our group at Olds Homecoming this year.

PM me on the where and how-to post the pics. I could have them up in a few days. Quality kinda sucks, being in the museum and all.

how hilarious would it be if someone paid a production company to rebuild one of these concept cars that GM destroyed. obviously its a shait load of money, but just the idea of rolling into a car show with a long since deal concept would be hilarious.

it would be funny until the lawsuit.

Why? Most of them weren't copyrighted. As far as GM is concerned, they didn't exist.

so lets say mitsubishi "steals" the design and puts the alpha into production exactly as is. you're telling me that GM would not get all butt hurt over it? as competitive as the auto industry is i cant buy into that idea. it seems to me that anything with the olds logo on it as a whole is in some way shape or form copyrighted.

Aurora was not conceived by GM, but by Ford, early 60's Ford Aurora station wagon as example. Hell, GM could sue each division of their own company for copyright infringement. Aurora is not copyrighted as far as I can find.

copyrights dont last forever, i think its only 20 years or something so thats a bad example lol

maybe copyright is the wrong term. perhaps trade mark and intellectual property fit in somewhere. in any case, my little brain hurts from trying to make sense of this.

andy, remind me to choke you out at ASS for being a PITA. LOL

even if its "copywrited" (or another legal form of it) who said they needs to directly copy it?

drug companies do it all the time (even though their patents only last 7 or 8 years) but you can put a slightly different part, or angle on something and make it different enough to pass as "not theirs"

if that happened, by whomever, that'd be the biggest f-u to GM, EVER.

However the name "Aurora" is trademarked by Hankook tire.
