Hey guys, little confused here.

I bought a Kenwood deck awhile ago and had a friend hook it up, he knows what he's doing as he's done plenty before just not on a 2001 Alero. Anyways it was all hooked up properly but there was no sound coming from the speakers.

We took the car to a audio/video shop and they installed it. They said it had something to do with the Monsoon amp already in the car and it was a matter of flicking a switch or something and presto their was the sound. They just wouldn't show me how to do it cause they wanted my money to do it.

Couple years later I've bought a new deck and am having the same problem, buddy installed it but no audio from speakers. This time I have bought an amp and sup for my car. I'm hearing bass from the sub but still no sound from the speakers. It has to be the monsoon amp.

Instead of taking it to the audio/video place can someone help me? Surely you guys who have aleros have the same problem. What did you do?

Hook up the remote antenna wire to your power wire....problem solved.

simple as that you need to find the power wire for the monsoon amp and hook the power antenna wire to it so when your headunit turns on it essenitally tells the amp to turn on.

Thanks whiteliquid for your prompt responce. Will be trying that in a few hours. Will get back to you if it worked or not.

Vtolds,

So that means I'll have 2 amps working in my car? Crazy. That doesnt cause problems? Or conflicts each other?

I'm no genious when it comes to cars so feel free to laugh at my stupidity

the Monsoon amp runs your speakers so if there is no power to the amp then there is no sound.

The wire is blue. Had the same thing as you and then hooked up the amp power wire and everything worked.

So if i don't have the amp then i don't need to worry about it right?

I wouldn't think so, but I'm no expert so I wouldn't take my word for it!

If you don't have the amp then you have no amp to turn on to power your speakers therefore everything is run off the head unit.
