Rear strut bar

Ok, so I have a front and rear strut bar..... for the rear, I've been having some problems with the tabs of the mount staying in place.... now, when you tighten the bar, do you want it pulling the towers in or pushing them out? The thing just wont stay in place.... only other thing I could think of is finding a large washer and a nut that would fit, and using those on top of the tabs.

Yea, but it seems when you pull it in, the tabs loose what little pressure they have against the strut mount thingy lol

Strut braces aren't meant to push out or pull in on the strut towers, they're meant to be an added chassis stiffening brace. When you install it, there shouldn't be any pressure in either direction. It should just sit in place and then you tighten the bolts. I'm not sure what you mean when you talk about the tabs, I'd have to see it.

It this a universial part or speicifly for a N-Body GM car?

Its for the n-body car. One of the old rear bars that are no longer made (pfyc if I remember right) And by pushing I mean when you adjust the ends on the bar itself. For the rear bar the brackets are held in by the one nut per side that is there, and then at the base of the other 2 bolts there is a metal washer, and the bracket has tabs that just kinda snug into place, if that makes much sense.

So only one bolt on each side hold that thing on?

As of right now, yes..... Im not sure if theres supposed to be anything else there..... Im going to go and get 4 more nuts and washers, and use that to help secure it using the other strut mount bolts

My RSM STB's were tight and I think you want them to push out to stiffen. then you tighten the jam nut down to keep them all in place. you should have to unbolt 1 or 2 bolts from the rear strut and them put the bar on then put the bolts back in if remember right.
