a guy at work drives an 99 grand am. (i think its a 99)
his ets light and abs light came on, recently. is that a wheel bearing issue? (thats all that came up in the search)
yes. check to make sure the plugs are connected in the wheel hubs, if they are, one of his sensors in his wheel hub(s) may be bad.

so its the wheel bearing, or jsut a bad sensor? and whats the cost/labor on each? (if its basic, i'll do it for him)
GM thought it would be a good idea to have the sensor built into the whole wheel hub assemb. so instead of replacing a $15 sensor, your stuck replacing a $120 wheel hub.

i think we should take common problems like these and add them to the FAQ page. if someone wanted to add them. (i'm not great and auto diagnosis, or else i would)

I here ya. I had to change my girlfriend's rear and front hubs. Though, shop around for the parts. I had the two front ones for 140 and the rear for 90 american. did the labour myself.

Murray's has two - the cheapo for $90 and the 5 year one for $120. I went cheapo because I was selling it. :) I paid a local shop $100 to install it for me (the 4th time, that is).

I just had this problem start about 2 weeks ago.
It kicks my cruise control off to, which really pisses me off.
The sad part is I just tossed a wheel hub that was good a few months back... Figured its a part I would never need.

First time Ive ever had this issue with all the cars Ive ever owned. Including one car I pushed to 178K miles...
So ya, never imagined it.
I might just remove it, clean it, regrease it and re install it if I can.
If it went together, it has to come apart. Just not sure if I would destroy it getting it apart...lol
The fronts been a bit noisy, but I attested that to the cheap tires in the front...
