ok, i built two single sub boxes for my 2 subwoofers and i was wanting to build another box for them, a little higher quality since they were my first 2 and ive built a few more since then, always single boxes, no matter how many subs were in the car. my question is - is there an advantage to a dual sub box? would i have to put a divider in there so that each sub has their own airspace? is there a down side to having a double sub box with no divider so they share the same airspace? will there be any distortion if they share the same airspace? am i an idiot for asking this? any feedback would be great
thanks :)

Its perfectly fine for them to share airspace. The only potential issue is if one sub blows. That changes the air space for the second sub and if in a ported box could be very bad.
Its done on a daily basis, I wouldnt hesitate to toss 2 subs in one single airspace.
Build a slot port.

a slot port? like a vent? is there any way i could get a good sub design from ya ryan?
if you have the room i would say make a ported box

This should give you a good start.
Tell it how many cubes you need after sub displacement.

I could sketch you a box design. I've built many for Aleros lol. Just tell me if you are interested.

oh and does it matter what the dimensions are for the slot?

Um ya...
You have two factors there. First is Port Area which is the cutout or diameter of the port. The second is port tuning which is a combination of port area and length relative to the airspace inside the box to produce a given frequency.
Whatever you tune your box to your peak frequency will be about 6-7 Hz over that point.

i thought that was just for the circle ports with tubes.. is it the same with the slotted ports/ vents? mind you, the only boxes i have built are sealed..
should i just stick with sealed or will i get more out of the sub with a ported/vented/slotted box

You will generally get +3dB by going ported per sub or more. Also your response curve will yield higher output over the spectrum until tuned frequency. In other words its constantly louder over the range and theres a nice peak.
