I have a high power engine build in progress at the moment and I've decided I'm also going to swap to some lightweight wheels. The only problem is I can't decide which wheels to go with, so I'm asking you all for some suggestions.
I'm very picky about wheels and they can't just be anything that looks cool.
This is what I'm looking for:
-Lightweight 18x7.5 or 18x8 wheel, nothing smaller or larger
-Preferably 5 spoke with a lip, but I'd also like a 6 spoke w/lip, or a narrow split 5 spoke w/lip
-Preferably gunmetal with a polished lip, but I can always get a different color powdercoated
-I'm going to say a maximum of $300 per wheel without tires...could be more if the wheel is exactly what I like...and preferably readily available
I've found some perfect wheels that are discontinued and also some very nice looking wheels that aren't very light. To give you an idea of what I'm looking for, here's a few of them:
Roja Formula 5 - Discontinued__________________Velox PG5S - Very hard to find or already discontinued
http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/4185/rojaformula5zx8.jpghttp://img156.imageshack.us/img156/776/veloxpg5spx4.jpg
Enkei RC5 - Expensive, around $600 per wheel________Velox VX6R - Hard to find

Some that are nice, but not necessarily lightweight:

About the only wheel I've found to fit the bill is the 5Zigen FN01RC, but I'd like to also see what else is out there.

I Photoshopped them onto my car in bronze. I like how they look and I do like the bronze on silver, but I still have mixed feelings.

I agree with both of you, but like I said, I'd like something lighter in weight.

I don't like bronze, silver all the way, but the Velox PG5S look awesome.

They're exactly what I'm looking for and super light (something like 16lbs a piece for the 18's), just can't find them anywhere.

I had 5Zigens on my car for about 3 weeks, I wound up taking them back, and returning them for a loss, they vibrated due to the bolt pattern mismatch, even after installing the hubcentric ring adapters. They were also heavier than what I should have gotten, which is Centerlines. I don't know if the Centerlines are still available, but I think John in Colorado Springs has some for sale.

No I gave them to my brother.

Decent looking, but I'm more interested in a wheel with recessed spokes and a polished lip.
I've actually been searching around some more and found these two from Rays G-Games:
77 Wolf

99 Barracuda

They're both pretty close to my price range, and are exactly the look I'm going for. Anyone know the weights of these offhand?

the bronze ones are nice but only with a chrome lip, otherwise it looks ugly. Im currently looking for a set of bronze with chrome lip rims. Try ebay...good prices

They're not 5 or 6 spoke with a lip. Like I said, I'm very picky about rims :p
I think I'm going to go with one of the G-games wheels...probably the 99B. I just can't find the weight of either one of them anywhere.

Motegi MR7's and FF7's are both 7 spoke wheels. The "7" in the name would've gave it away for me...

I was just looking at the Kosei K3's on Tire Rack...the 18's are pretty light at 19lbs. a piece. Those may be a very good possibility.

imnot sure why mfuller picked his wheels, but i would guess they were for the same reason you are, although he likes to turn and slam on the brakes alot..lol. for performance wheels with race car looks, kosei and wedsport are it. i love the way the lug area is inset, making the rim look very deep and wide

I have Kosei K1 wheels, and they weigh 16lbs a piece - that's for 17x7.5".
To answer jturkey's question, I got 'em because they are light, strong, and relatively cheap ($239 per wheel). Also, because no other Alero has 'em.
They were also drilled specifically to fit the Alero, so no hub-centric rings or special lug nuts are needed.
Rule of thumb for a lightweight wheel is 1 lb. per inch of diameter.

Just as a reference, anyone know the widest wheel and/or lowest offest that will fit on an Alero without modification?

Well, I have only gone up to a 8" wide, +35mm offset wheel. It was close at full steering lock.

The Tire Rack.
Ordered as blanks and then drilled (centerbore and lug holes) for my application.

It was several years ago....I was still running 17x8" Konig Tantrums (there is a good picture floating around somewhere) with 225/45R17 Bridgestone RE730 tires.
