i keep reading about an lim gasket...do the 4 cylinders have these? my car was overheating and when i looked to see what it was i saw a ton of antifreeze leaking out of the side of the engine. its on the right (drivers ride) right where the hose from the radiator runs into the engine. now could this be the water pump or something i could fix quickly. my car has been overheating for a few days but yesterday it stopped so i assumed it was the thermostat which i changed out today. and on my way home it slowly but surely overheated till all of this happened. please help...leaving for meps on thursday and my wife needs my car for work. thank you for reading and any help .

2.4 does not have a lim. Sounds like a head gasket to me.

umm hose leak?, any holes in the hose?

no leaks in the hose...it looks like the seal around whatever the hose runs into..some black thing...its bubbling around where i would assume a gasket to be.

here's where its leaking from..i can grab the radiator hose(thickest hose going straight in) and squeeze and see the antifreeze leaking out. i think it could just be a gasket or seal worn out but i need the specific name to fix it. it looks like a sensor and another hose are coming out the side of it running to the back http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v14/cold_forever/S6300877.jpg

not sure about the 2.4 but that looks like it could be the coolant tempereature sensor

Just 2 weeks ago, I had this same o-ring leak. Take out the air filter box & battery so you'll have enough room to work. Remove the power steering pump and it's easy to get to. No use to remove hoses unless you want to. Just unbolt the water outlet, bend the hoses around, remove the old o-ring, clean the surface, install the new o-ring ($.98 @ Advance Auto Parts), add sealent, re-install everything in reverse order. I did this job in 1-1/2 hours.

Mine did the same thing, make sure u replace the o-ring that goes with the metal tube, and that you replace your anti-freeze. The Dex Cool crap eats through all that stuff.

weird, dex-cool's all i use, no gasket eating

ok, since this problem seems to be solved, i think i am going to re-use this thread.

i have a 3400 and for whatever reason, my low coolant light came on this morning. when i got to school, i checked it and it was at the normal level. any ideas why? it didn't come on after school.

probably just the sensor in the overflow tank...alot of people on here seem to have that problem and they just unplug it and the light goes off. of course you could replace it just to be safe in case it does get low some day
