View Full Version : Tire Low Pressure Light
I brought up the front tires to 32 and a couple days later the light came on. I checked all tires and I set them to 30-32 (one was 43, one 38) and I'm trying to reset it but the RESET button doesn't seem to work. I know the sequence: ignition ON, hit RESET button once and then again. However the RESET button doesn't seem to respond at all. I tried to disconnect the battery for like half hour with no luck. Low pressure light still on. I'm thinking of pulling out the RESET button panel and check it with a multi-meter to see if there's anything wrong with the RESET button. Anyone experienced anything similar before? What's the trick? Thank you very much! I greatly appreciate your help.

My '99 GL did that once when the right front tire got a little low from a slow leak that has since been fixed. Anyway, the low pressure light came on and also would not reset once the leak was fixed. I did the same as you several times and finally just let it stay on since I knew the pressure in each tire was within a pound or so of each other. A few days later, it seemed to correct itself and has not been on since. Sorry that I can not give you a definite answer on what to do.

So you're saying I should change my oil ?? I'm kidding... I know it sounds weird. The RESET button stopped responding. I tried it several times.

mine gets funny too. if anything, keep trying it and wiggle the button around when ur pushing it. i don't know why but it took like a dozen tries to get mine to work last time.
I tried it like 3 or 4 times in a row but hey... I'll go with a dozen just to make it go away. Thanks man!

also, if it doesn't work after a few seconds, put the key back to "off" then back to "on" and try again. you have to start pushing the button as soon as you turn it to "on"

No one mentioned that you have to hold the RESET button in once you get it to flach for 5 seconds....You don't just push the reset button twice you have to hold in once you get the light to flash. Checking that button with a mutimeter is just a waste of time IMO! Either it works or it doesn't plain and simple....if you can get it to flash then the button is fine, just make sure you hold it in for 5 sec. If it keeps coming and you check the tires and there is no change in pressure (5 pounds or more on either tire) then the monitoring device is gone up on one of the wheels or more.

Good point, Lonnie ... I took for granted that everyone knew to hold the reset button in until the flashing ... but maybe not.

Okay so far I had no luck with the RESET button, I know I'm doing it right because it's not the first time I used it. I can't get it to flash anything. I'm guessing the last guy (wasn't me) that changed the oil somehow ruined the circuit board pressing too hard on it. I remember he was trying the button a couple of times with no luck and he was getting frustrated. At this point I have no option but to take the circuit board out and inspect the switch, bypass it with another switch. I'll let you know what I found wrong. It's cold here in Chicago so I might delay this a bit, but I'll post a reply once I figure it out.
This is actually a quick fix. First of all the RESET button comes out of the fuse panel just like any other fuse (no circuit board, cancel that lol). YES it could be replaced, it does have a part number on it but... who cares? Right? I did get my tire light fixed just by using a fuse and the fuse puller attached to it. You know the rest: turn key in ignition to ON, stick the fuse in (where the RESET button used to be) and them pull it out ... change oil light starts to flash, stick it in again and pull it out ... tire light starts to flash. Stick it in the third time and hold it in till it chimes and tire light's gone. That's what I'm talking about! LOL . Thank you very much for your support!

So with that being said was the button stuck in (shorted) or not making contact (open)?

The button wasn't making any contact. I checked it for continuity. I did take the button apart and it seems like it's incomplete. If you go to any autoparts store they sell a replacement button.
