Looks like the same one I had. You need to peal off the backing and bend it so it fits threw a opening on the bezel then stick it down. It ha sa sticky back but it should still be real, mine was I think.

^thats a sticker. what it really is. is Carbon fiber. with alot of clear shit over it to make it thick and smooth (but still flimsy) cut pieces with sticky shit on the bottom

irl its about this thick | |

[ion] C2
02-04-2008, 07:47 PM
how the hell do you stick it smoothly to the round pieces of the interior trim, and so it fits in the original space? doesnt anyone sell real CF interior trim?

adam337
02-04-2008, 07:51 PM
no.. the only people with REAL trim pieces are reddog and oldsman if i remember correctly. you have to clean the ppieces youre sticking stuff onto and just put it on with GM glue supplied

adam337
02-04-2008, 07:52 PM

exoticwooddash.com has real carbon fiber kits but they are expensive as hell. $299.00 for 2 door and $347.00 for 4 door.

There was a previous thread about a group buy here when you send interior pieces off to be covered in carbon fiber. Took me a while but found the site they used. I might want to do this whenever I can come up with extra pieces or another car to use for a while when I send the parts in.

I'd like to have one of those in Metallic Blue.

[ion] C2
02-05-2008, 09:11 AM
that's not real carbon fiber though, it's just a "pattern" they put on, they make finishes that look like whatever pattern you choose

Vtolds
02-05-2008, 09:59 AM
^its real carbon fiber, they use Hydro immersion I believe to cover the stock pieces with real CF.

[ion] C2
02-05-2008, 10:12 AM
it doesn't look real

look at how they applied "carbon fiber" to these items
http://vcfinishes.com/_wsn/page2.html

VCFinishes,LLC preps every part for decorating. The picture on the left shows a cell phone that has been primed and painted. The picture on the right shows the same cell phone after the pattern and clear coat have been applied.

The patterns will completely wrap around most cylindrical parts and will not peel due to changing temperatures unlike most stick-on kits.

The inks applied are UV stable

I mean it looks pretty good, but it's not real carbon fiber. I have real CF right here, lol.

wrapping your own shit would come out better, but is very expensive and if you do not have any experience your going to be wasting a lot of money until its right.

i think it looks good, wonder how much it cost.

CBLOHM3400
02-05-2008, 12:22 PM
material on ebay is not that expensive i don't need a roll to wrap the world i would think 12x30 would be plenty big enough to wrap radio bezel and maybe a window switch bezel

CBLOHM3400
02-05-2008, 12:23 PM
glue on the other hand is a little more expensive not for sure on how much i think around 30.00

I saw something on tv. they did a truck in camo. The processs was simalar to this i think. they foated the ink (pattern) on top of the water and brought the peice up thru the surface witch covered the entire peice with the ink (pattern).

real carbon fiber is done with carbon mat resin and a vacume to get all the air out. air pockets in fiberglass and carbon fiber is what makes it fail

Haha, yeah.. I gotta talk to the main shipment receiver again and maybe see if I can come look for the lost package because they don't look very hard. If it came in 14 days ago it won't be in their normal spots. The guy on eBay said if I can't find it he'll send another one out if I pay shipping.
