Hello,
I just joined after finding the forum. I am a new alero owner (as in new owner, not a new alero obviously). I bought a 2001 5 months ago. It needed a few things done to it. These are the ones that I have completed.
Resistor pack changed
installed new Driver side window regulator/motor (drove for a few weeks with the window held up with two vise-grips on the tracks just below the window clips while I waited for parts and a little warmer weather)
fixed broken spring/support in back of driver seat (coat hanger formed there now)
Hazard switch changed
Rear speakers swapped as one was dead
It has also been rear-ended twice. Both were while my son was driving; neither were his fault. I'm wondering if the bronze color I have isn't noticeable or something.
After the first, it was repaired, on the second it was totaled out (doesn't seem to take a lot of damage to reach that level), but I will try to do a minimal amount of repair as it is still driveable, is worth more than the amount to buy it back from insurance, and I don't want to put a lot of money back into it. Anyway, I hope that's not sacreligious for this group as I will likely be driving it around with a small dent in the rear quarter panel and no intentions of fixing it further.
I wish I found the group a little earlier as I saw a post in here that had a link to the window regulator that would have been cheaper than what I payed.
Looking forward to a long stay (hopefully),
