View Full Version : Air Bag Cover?

Ok so im guessing this is the airbag cover. (picture below)
on my car, the covering for it has been ripped off, due to annoyance and heat damage- and now it looks almost as bad as it did before.
What i want to know is - is there a fairly easy way to make it look clean again, or do any of you want to sell yours? :haha:
also, my retarded friend held a lighter to the bezel right below that and it has a bad burn mark and melted a bit
suggestions? (price estimates are good too)

the bag is fine and so is the vent. but the soft part has the burn. and the bare area used to be soft.

the covering should be fairly easy to replace, it's just glued on vinyl on a plastic cover that's hooked onto the metal housing of the inflator and cushion. Lol I work at Takata, #1 manufacturer of airbags/vehicle safety systems around the world, and in the GM division, but the Alero wasn't made by Takata so I can't vouch for its safety or design.

All you do is take fishing like like here said and use a sawing motion to get them off, then some goo-gone to take the rest of the adhesive off. Double sided tape works the best when you but them in you interior.

i kick an ex girl out of my jeep cause she lit a cig  and the top and doors were off  made her stand on the side of the road and smoke then get back in. If you are smoking in one of my car your ass better be on fire
wd-40 works well for the glue removal too

why not just super glue?
Because if you ever want them off i dotn know how well super glue will let go of the soft part of the dash board. and if you place it wrong super glue wont let you re-possition it.

Do you have any local junk yards? Look for an alero there.

why dont you buy one of those dash carpets that cover the entire dash, you can get one for 30 bucks i think at dashmat.com but it wont help your burn mark.

I'd carfax your VIN.
Looks like the air bag was stolen or blown at one point

naw the cover had serious heat damage and was twisted up like a half pipe and looked stupid as hell.
also, 65usd just for a cover is kind of pricey with my 600usd a month income... i got a job interview at a hilton hotel tomarrow @ 1:30, so if i get the job and i make as much as i do now (as a master of the custodial arts) then ill be making around 1800 a month. then the modding begins..... muahahahah

to get the badges off use a hairdryer. youre not going to fuck up the paint like some seem to think.. its the same way you get dealership stickers off. ive done it to my alero and my gparents lincoln. just gently move the hair dryer side to side slowly and it will heat up the glue and come right off with a pull. then use goo gone to get rid of sticky remains and in the summer wax your car(will get rid of slight fade of paint)

Um,
I would look in the junkyard like they said on here, and on your trip there, get an emblem from another Alero (Which is what I'm planning on my next visit, thanks to the earlier pic) and a few other things. Wear baggy pants and jacket, some stuff should just plain be free >_<
