Connecting car subs to home stereo

So I want to hook up my subs and amp that are in my car to my stereo that I have in my room. Does anyone know how I would do this? I know I can connect the amp to the receiver but I'm not sure how I would power the amp. I don't want to buy a car battery because I know it will eventually die so any ideas? Amp is 900 watts btw.

Forgetting it is the best idea.

This is the absolute worst idea ever and it comes up constantly.

You need a battery or battery charge in your room. Having a car battery in use in your room lets off chemicals in the air. not good.

You don't really need a car battery in there you can just use a high current power supply, but it will cost "Astron" makes the best, but again it will cost a lot. Not exactly a bad idea, but I wouldn't want to got through the trouble unless you got money to blow, and in that case I would just by a home theater system. Also it is possible to use a high output computer power supply to run a small to mid size amp, but I seriously wouldn't attempt to run it at heavy loads.

simple......

use a car battery charger to power the amp, you have the ground and power right there, th constant will use the power as well.

then run your speakers to the amp like you normaly would,

last ut not east get the rca cales ad cut one end off and hook that end into the back of the radio were the speakers go, Justmake sure yor terminalsdont touch, crank it up and away you go.

we did this at my buddys condo to piss off his neighbor.

also, home theatres are made to sound alot clearer then car setups.

hence why they run at 8/16/32 ohm.

Car amps are less efficient usually. Especially considering you have to transform AC to DC...

By the time you pay for a proper power supply to run a car amp ghetto rigged you may as well just get a real amp. Lastly subs suck arse in house. its way over powering and doesnt add anything worthwhile.

just get a home entertainment center with surround system. u can probably find somebody that is moving that doesnt want to have to bring it to their new house on craigslist. usually u can find it for like 300 for a system worth easily 1k+

Now again if HE wants to do it I still don't think it is a bad idea ,but I wouldn't do it. I really don't think that this guy is looking for sound quality but more so a money saver. I do believe that a proper 12v power supply is more then efficient to deliver what he wants, cause thats what they are designed to do, but he will have to pay good poney to get one like 245.00 for 37amps continous. I don't know how to take the "ghetto rigged" comment, but I will say that it does take some thought to do it right and if inginuity is what we are starting to call "ghetto rigged" then I guess that anything anyone does outside of the box..ie custom box, custom lighting, custom gauges, or even custom cars is "ghetto rigged" to some point.

In the end its never worth it, ever...True I never said it was worth it, but and I do say but...if he wants to do it its up to him to learn the cold hard facts. I know how much those power supplies are, and I've used a computer supply to power one before so I know that will work....again not saying that I would do this as a permenant install at all. Just saying that if he wants to do it then there are ways for him to do it...He's the one that has to decide whether or not to do it. I say leave that crap in the car and just buy a cheap home theater system if you are looking to just get some better sound. All and All to each his own.
