O the fun begins

I put it in and felt an instant improvement (stock for stock) but about 2 miles down the road the RPMs jumped up (1500 to 4000  ) put the car in netural and tapped the gas and it went away, for about 3 miles. Then it jumped again, so since I didn't want to jump on the highway like this I pulled over and turned the car off. Then it wouldn't restart and no fuel was going to the motor  .

Pop the hood and unplug the MAF and the car started right up with a very rich fuel smell, rev, die, rev, die---stall. Plug it back in and the car starts right up.

OK put the car in drive and BANG!!!

WTF was that?!?! Put it in reverse and BANG!!!

So no tranny parts are on the ground and I drive to work the rest of the way, chriping tires under normal accel.

Get to work, call the mech and explain. He tells he the car is relearning the new MAF. Drive 60 MPH or faster and the car may reset itself, if it dones't bring it in.

After work, a bit of a hard start (is was cold out) but turned over and no problems at all

Good fuel curve, good EGT, good RPM @ 70 (same as descreened) get on it and it goes :yahoo:

I'll still keep the fingers crossed :ninja:

not surprising..... I can see that as an easy way of you explaining it to everyone without it confusing them.

great to hear that you're enjoying the new found power :)

I might do a major overhaul (plugs, wires, many sensors ) this should be on my list at (130000 miles)

haha, i was asking redog. i understand why you want to replace it, cause you have a lot of miles on your car. But i was just wondering how many miles redog has. heh

yeah i know what you mean about the BANG!!! when i was doing a VE-tune i had to unplug my maf, the pcm sets the tranny into default mode of full pressure at ALL times, i did a ve-tune for a month with maf unplugged and jackhammering into gear, but my tranny works flawlessly.

I'm just under 93K

The MAF was all dirty and full of crud, the wires were black.

I think I can clean it, but if not, I'm going to chuck it.

Car ran fine today too ;)
