Just get something to put in the button slot that keeps the button pressed all the way down.

im pretty sure you have to have a rear wheel drive car to drift.

and i'm pretty sure you can slide the rear end around by locking the wheels up temporarily. just hold the button down throughout the entire process and pull it and put it back down as you turn while accelerating, then turn the wheel where you want to face. fun to do on rainy days and in the snow

what you need is a spring loaded one where it retracts and disengages automatically.

Yeah seeing as that the alero is a front wheel drive car, it wont actually drift. But like ion said, its fun to slide!

I would like to figure out how to get rid of the clicking as well. Just gotta look at it first i guess...

if you don't ever want it working again you can break the linkage that holds the cog (the thing that locks it in place) in place you could also pull on the button real hard and take the spring out.

seeing that if your in the middle of a big patch of ice, it will with practice. But ya, just hold down the button as you use it, works fine. You usually don't need it much anyway, just do what i have and have summer tires on the back and studded winter tires on the front. Jerk the wheel a bit and the back end breaks out easy.
Just don't be stupid and do it when there is anybody else around, including in your car with you. That way the only person that can get hurt if something goes wrong is yourself.
