so ive read all the posts on mafs. if its not going to damage my car id like to take my screen out. is this hard to do? what does it entitle? IF I GET SOME POSTS STATING NOT TO TAKE IT OUT THEN IS THERE A WAY TO CLEAN MY MAF WIHOUT DAMAGE. I SAW A POST WHERE SOMEONE UNHOOKED THEIRS THEN RECONNECTED IT AND THE CAR WENT CRAZY HIGH RPM STALLING AND TRANNY PROBLEMS. I DONT WANT THAT TO HAPPEN TO ME.
IM PUTTING IN A TORNADIO SO I WAS THINKING TAKE OUT THE MAF SCREEN SINCE IVE GOT A KANDN TO FILER OUT JUNK AND THE TORNADO TO CHANGE THE AIRFLOW.

The Tornado is a waste of money and a scam.

Taking the screen out does nothing. It doesn't give you any more or any less air flow. I would just leave it in.
Oldnut is absolutely right. Its a scam and a waste of money.

I thought somone here wrote that they took the screen out and it made the car run like crap. (reddog maybe?). I know dogg just replaced his dirty maf and said it made a difference
the tornado is good for decoration some fishing line and hang it from the porch watch it spin. I have seen increased performance on a v-8 f-150 airrad TB spacer but flowmasters and a cai and programer were added at the same time.
and with out the screen there is no 2nd protection if any thing gets thru the filter into your engine it goes.

yeah you wasted your money on that "tornado" piece. It doesn't do anything to the car.

Just to verify what the tornado does, here's a dyno sheet of a '92 HO Quad4 with and without it.

thats a nice graph Cliff. Just prove that the tornado is a piece of crap, even if we already knew lol.
Also for the Maf cleaning, it may sound crazy, but if seafoam is used to dissolve carbon accumulation, could you just put some seafoam on the screen of your MAF to clean it? Or even let the screen float in some seafoam?
Also, we don't have a MAF on the LD9, right?

I just hose mine down with carb cleaner when it needs it then i let it dry before reinstalling. Always works for me.
