Does anyone know where I can find a carbon fiber hood for my Alero? Because alerostyle.com is no longer in business, please let me know if you know where to purchase one. Thanks!

Not everyone will agree with that and will want a different type of hood that others won't agree with, it's been discussed before. Best bet is to do OEM carbon fiber.

you think your having a problem finding a hood....im having problems trying to find bodykits for my 3. the bodystyle changed in 2007 so kits for '03 to '06' wont fit......im sure theres a carbon fiber hood out there, you just gotta look hard

There are no cardon fiber hoods available for our cars anymore. Looking wont help, it will just frustrate you. If one does get produced again I'm sure you will here about it here first.

i second the cowl hood notion. and crazy i have a question regarding your grandam gt ribs.. what all did you have to do to make them fit?

We will DEFINATELY do a carbon OEM hood. As far as the other hoods go: Because of the dissagreement on styling, we're just going to make one that we think looks good and represents our style. That way if you like it you buy it, if not, then you don't have to worry about it.

A hood with heat extractor style vents like this would be pretty cool:

There is no point in having a cowl hood on a fwd car.

Hopefully, you're not serious and your post was made completely drunk and you are not actually that ignorant.

1. Cowl hoods are made to cool down the engine bay. Are our engines located in the engine bay? Yes.

2. Cowl hoods have a larger angle to promote more downforce to the front end. Are our car's FWD, which would mean more downforce to the wheels that are powered? Yes.

3. Cowl hoods look good. You want your car to look good right? Yes.

Explain why these are bad because Aleros are FWD.

i cant figure out what kind of logic that guy is using.

Oldsman
02-29-2008, 03:36 PM
because a cowl hood was not originally design to cool down the engine but a another way of getting air into the motor kinda like ram air.it provides a relief for the air that is built up and the windshield abeing it is a pressure point then you suck air from that area into the carb you get a ram air effect

[ion] C2
02-29-2008, 03:40 PM
right, but we're talking about the logic the other guy's using to say it's retarded since the alero is FWD, lol. i know it's supposed to draw air in, it also cools things down

That is what I would want. I could care less about scoops or anything, as long as it's lightweight.

why does there have to be a point? the cowl flows well with the body lines and the razzi spoiler, and it helps seperate from all the other stock aleros out there. i have the ONLY cowl hood for an alero in my city, which makes my car unique.

Ok well some of you old time aleromod members may remember that at one time there was a very limited production (4 or 5) of OEM carbon fiber hoods. They were a single layer carbon fiber with no bracing and required at least 2 front hood pins. Mine sustained some damage but is still usable and very light!!!

what i would kill for a CF Hood!! I couldnt care less if it had a cowl on it or not, the light weight of them alone makes it worth having!!

One would think this is true but the past has shown otherwise. My hood was one of 4 or 5 prototypes to see if it would be profitable, obviously it wasnt. Alerostyle didn't do great either. The problem is everybody says they want something and then when it is produced they don't like it anymore or don't have the money. Long before alerostyle I actually had a small business loan to produce OEM alero carbon fiber hoods. Had a real talented smaller local carbon fiber company out of my home state of south dakota. They would keep the molds, and I would get 100 OEM hoods at roughly $170 a piece. I thought I would easily be able to sell them for $350-400 and make a real nice profit, but I decided after some long hard thinking to not go through with it...........

I agree, but here's an alternative to the big silver circle with the pin through the middle. They're flush mount with a cover that opens, and you can lock them. They'd only be needed if the hood made didn't have a stock latch.

Almost can't even see them against the carbon fiber.

sorry for it being off topic a bit, but what would you be doing with the fenders? just stock fenders or something with vents to help release hot air as well or not? just curious to what may come available in the future for our cars...

We have a few fender designs in various stages right now. We'll be doing: OEM, flared (sort of like the dodge viper), and probably a vented set later on.
