Uhh okay.. meaning... just the transmission? You're doing the extensive labor? www.j-body.org has some in the classifieds every once in a while. Or you can pull one from any in the junkyard... or order one new/remanufactured for a HEFTY sum, I'm assuming.

probably average would be the $500-$650 range for a used one. It's all the other stuff that will nickel and dime you.

need reflash PCM($150) or swap PCM need wiring harness(pull it your self), need tranny ($650) then factor in a shop labor also need the entire setup for clutch pedal, cable linkage, fluid reservior (dpends most yards won't give you cable since they cut it for the tranny (best bet it U-wrench-it)
total about $500 you do it yourself.

even if you swap the PCM it will still need to be re-flashed because there will be VIN discrepancies between it and the BCM, radio and digital radio receiver (if you have them)

The auto will handle any setup as long as you take care of it. There's no kit available for Aleros, so you'll have to custom fabricate most of everything anyways.

Actually, I've been looking into doing this myself on my 04 Alero. I borrowed a friend's TECH-II and noticed that the RPO option for 5spd exsists in the ECM already, so theoretically you can just turn that on with the Tech-II (any GM dealer) and you're set as far as computer goes.
Has anyone actually looked to see if the punch outs are there for the pedals in the firewall? One of these days I need to get off my keester and look :)
Also, if your looking for beefy Automatic parts, I'd recommend picking up the GM book on building the Ecotec from 300 to 1400Hp. They recommend an Automatic for anything over 500HP and have part numbers listed for HD units that will take up to 1000HP. (they aren't cheap tho...lol)
