View Full Version : Driver's Side Window Won't Roll Up

My driver's side window has some trouble going down, but won't go up at all. I can get it back up by removing the door panel, pushing the switch up and pushing the window up from inside the door. When it broke, it sounded like something fell inside the door, was this the motor breaking, or is this something to be fixed with a put it back together mentality?

i dunno but iam going to take a stab at it
sounds like to me the mounting tabs broke off the window
or the regulator took a crap
check the tabs on the glass

the same exact thing happened to mine also... there's a plastic piece that "grabs" the window, i heard the same sound of something breaking and falling inside the door, and that's what it is... the only fix is a whole new window regulator unit.... find on ebay for around $75.00, or buy it from a dealer for $260.00.... but that's your prob, that piece broke off.

dadirtybulldog is right. It is the little plastic clips that hold the window in place. They don't sell just the clips so you have to buy a complete new regulator. The part is $180 from GM if you plan on doing it yourself.

I got this problem with a rear door...and as far as I know, there aren't any "how-to's" to get off the rear door's panels...

bdyman where did you jsut buy the mounting tabs/plastic clips? They are not available from GM, you have to but the regulator to get the clips.

BOTH of my windows did that same thing...then the window went down all crooked and went up at an angle and got stuck lol.....luckily the car was still under warranty and they fixed both of them  But yea..if you go through dealer, they'll charge u for a WHOLE new regulator..but if u do it urself w/ the clips then ur str8

Yeah - it's the regulator. Mine had to be fixed a few weeks ago. The Aleros are apparently notorious for that breaking. My car had less than 23K miles on it, too, when it went. Luckily it is covered under the Mftr. Warranty.

so the motor and regulator going out is covered under warranty but I doubt that the clips are covered. as far as the clips being bonded to the window, they are screwed to the window so I dont get that part. Mine just broke lastnight and ordered the whole set up, that windows been acting funny for a while, I figured it was time.
