For reasons i can't explain, my headunit died. (rca's managed to unground themselves, even though they are still connected to the circuit board correctly)

so i guess i'm shopping now. which sucks.

i'm not estatic about how the new pioneer models look, but i'm sure they'll grow on me. (unless someone has a better recommendation) I need 3 preamp outs, and direct ipod control. so.. any recommendations?

I can't really see what your paying $60 for, between.

my last h.u was around 300, and i liked it... but at the end of the day, its still only going to play music and possible radio for me. So i'd like to keep it as cheap as possible. (i don't have a problem spending that again, its w/in my budget, but unless someone gives me a REALLY good reason to, i'll probably end up going with the 4000, above)

so, what have you?
EDIT: I suppose i should also ask... how is http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-CDIU50-Direct-Cable-Headunits/dp/B000NPFQ24
different from just your standard USB to Ipod cable???

yeah. for the cost i could get one, and have it shipped here, bestbuy had it for the same price.

and later this week, i'm going back and getting the 4yr warrenty. since my last one died in about 3 years.

its not as fancy as the last one i had, but it plays well, sounds good, and has ipod direct control.

I wouldnt waste on the warranty.

In 3 years your not gonna want that unit anyhow.

3 years from now they won't have the same one, and i'll get 164 toward a new one... i already had addressed that with a csr, because i KNOW they won't have this one.

very true.

But thats if that unit breaks... And if the "break" falls into a loophole, you get nothing.

Them things are the biggest waste of $$$ there is.

oh, i'm aware... i sell them all day long. (or try to) i'll be sure to check out the fine print before hand.

but i'd rather spend 24.99 now and not have to spend 164 again later.
