So I was looking on Fast-Autos.net and noticed the Grand AM Autocross 3.5L Turbo Concept car from Pontiac. This thing is F*ing nice!!! I really hope it does come into production because it COULD open up a new list of possibilities for the Alero ;) (i.e. engine swap..turbo setup..whatever) It looks like the same setup as the 3400 motor..im just guessing that it's bored out a little more or the stroke is a lil longer. It is a very sharp looking car! I am not sure if this has been discussed before (probably has but I've never seen the topic on here..sorry if this is a repeat) Just thought I'd share this very nice find with you guys

Here's a link to the page: http://fast-autos.net/pontiac/pontiacgrandamac.html

Yeah, keep dreaming. No one will pay for a turbo'ed grand am, they won't make it. Have you seen a supercharged sunfire?

I never quite understood why so many people have hard ons for grandam's. To me there way to common exspecially around here every other person has one, i like the Grand Priw much more. But i guess it att comed down to cost.

Good luck on the engine swap. The 3400 in the alero's is a LA1. That 3.5 in that car was the LX9 (new 3.5), its not a drop in and run, that little black box near the intake manifold is the electronic throttle body, and last time I checked the LA1 had a cable driven throttle body connected to the accelerator pedal.

Yup. That engine is in the new Malibu's. Similar, but yet wayyyyy different. Throttle by wire, electric steering (rather than hydraulic). Lots of work for a swap.

Not only that, but its rear wheel drive. Good luck on swapping that.

i doubt that they would produce that seeing as there is no more grand am in a year...

And what gave you that idea? Don't believe everthing you read on the internet; that concept vehicle is 100% front wheel drive.

Well you where right about the engine being in teh malibu but you where wrong about one thing. It has a hydrolic steering pump in the grand am version (notice the resivoir in the pic, Electric steering does not have that.) I stare at that engine everyday trying to figure out how to put that trans and engine in the alero

hey now.... i NEVER said anything about Grand AM's being better than Alero's at all...if I thought that, I would have bought one instead of the Alero. Plus I was only judging by the pic..nothing else..i didnt know it was RWD..MY BAD..lol...my only hard-on pry goes to the Alero w/ the Northstar V8 put in it...jebus!

Well, the page said RWD. But umm.....After actually looking at the pics of the engine bay and noticing that the engine is CLEARLY sitting sideways, I'd agree, it's 100% FWD.

Saw that car at the Philly car show. The motor looks better in person
