must be, since each speaker should have different colors of pos/neg since they all don't just run off one wire, you wouldn't want every speaker hooked up to the same wire

The tweeter has its own wiring and its different than the 4x6.

Red should be positive, black negative.

If you hook it up wrong it will just be out of phase and its easy to identify a tweeter out of phase.

Oh I didn't even mention about the tweeter wiring. I didn't hook mine back up.

they way i saw it was my 6.5 and tweeters were wired togather and then pluged in with a clip. i cut the clip, sodered the old connection and ran it back to a aftermarket amp ill shoot a couple pictures later and see what you think i should do about placement of amps and what not

why would them being connected backwords cause them to crack i thought cracking or clipping was just a power issue? idk tho again my other aftermarket speakers didnt crack or clip.

who said anything about cracking and clipping? the speakers will just move forward when they should be moving backward, should still sound somewhat right

im sorry i have a post in car audio forums and got these mixed up yea i have my colors backwords so they are out of phase and in the car audio forum they are telling me that they are cracking and clipping due to being wired backwords but i have a hard time believing that. here is post.

I see common sense evades some still.

Someone almost hit the head on the nail.

What you got here is your replacement speaker is 4 Ohms and you have the factory tweeter wired in also (its a 4 Ohm). So you have the headunit bridged. You cant do that, period.

Your speaker will operate no different in phase or out of phase outside of the phase shift. Anyone who says anything different obviously has no place answering technical questions.

BTW see you on the Alero board!

There are a lot of smart people ont hat board. however there are even mroe idiots that shouldnt be answering questions.

Also in the future, provide all the information. Stop posting bits here and there.

Only reason i could figure it out was because of the different info posted on CA.com.

Consider it lesson learned and move forward. now unhook them factory tweets!

finally someone who agrees with me now i got them back to infase and they stopped clipping funny they actually sound worse tho but atleast hooked up right. i always agreed with the tweeter comment myself but ull see if u do a search alot of people posted it was ok to run tweets like that! i always thought the headunit wasnt made for that. so then to my question i always asked and never got a answer for how is it from the factory they have tweeters in there they are run in the same wires as the fronts so why is my car any diferent? and what ohm load does factory radio run at and what ohm load do after market radios run at typically?

Factory radios arent always standard. Ive seen speakers from 10 Ohms to 2 Ohms.

Replacement head Units are all 4 Ohms. 99.9% of all replacement audio speakers are 4 Ohm.

Your still not listening. The factory tweeter MUST be disconnected. I cant spell it out for you any clearer.

Your replacements have a woofer and a tweeter. Now your tossing on another tweeter, so 3 speakers in total. The stock is just a mid woofer and a tweeter. 2 speakers.

sounds like you have some anger issues bro. Your response to that is probably you can't stand stupid people, posts or ignorant people doing ignorant things. Well incase you havent noticed this is a forum THATS WHAT ITS FOR one person to pass on knowledge to another. To help one another out. sorry i didnt study ohms law and know that i cant replace my mids and keep the factory tweet in. just wanted to knw when i get my aftermarket radio if i could still keep the factory tweeters in. sorry to have made you so angry id get that checked out tho man id hate to feel like that.

Lol, Im not angry at all. I know what forums are all about also. Ive been online in the car audio forums since 1999. Ive been doing car audio since 1995?

Theres nothing like being asked for help, giving help then having the same person still squawk on about the same problem when they have already been told the answer, yet dont run with it. It doesnt make me angry, but it is irritating.

In the end its you that has to suffer, not me. So take my irritation with a grain of salt.

I've learned it's best to shut up on Audio threads and Let ryan post. then Ask him questions later.

Or 3400 Engine questions with Redog.

plenty of people on this forum that have factory tweeters and aftermarket speakers.

cherrington17

i did... but the tweeters didn't sound right, and were just messing with my head, so i took them out.

..and now that i have aftermarket components up front (even though they aren't set up as well as they should be, w/ the angles and whatnot) i guarantee you, that something was a miss w/ the factory tweets and aftermarket woofers.

Theres plenty of idiots in the world too... So whats your point?

You have a problem, its been addressed. Yet your going to keep on with it?

Ok since you dont want the correct answer, let me give you some BS. YOu need to buy a line filter. it costs about $60. Go buy it and give it a try.

:rolleyes2:
