OK as you probably saw in the other thread, Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ opened thier road corse today and this weekend only they are giving free lap time. I got 5 laps. :yahoo:

I was in the gruop with the novices because I've only road raced a handful of times. They had an instructor in every other car and I had the instructor with me.

They spaced us out a bit, but that didn't help because it typical ricer fashion talking shit and saying how good he is. He was the first car and he was driving a Ford Lightning The guy was going only 20 MPH ON THE STRIAGHT WAYS!!! The instructor was getting pissed at him

I was whipping the car around the track pretty good. The instructor was impressed with this one turn and he told me he always has problems with that certain turn, it's a sharp right which is 2 turns.

Hitting the apex of the turns and basiclly just following all the skidmarks on the track to keep the line to go around.

I did manage to glance at my speedo a few times. One turn that was killing my sides I was only going 25 and that was the time I floored in thru the apex, another turn I did get to 30. On the one straight way I got up to 60 before I had to slow down because of the douche in the Lightning. He started going faster on the straights, but slowing everybody down on the turns, even the light ones.

Overall, it was a lot of fun, and free :yahoo: Whipping around the turns and with the banks it's amazing how you find that your hood becomes a blind spot. The tires never squealled before, but they did today. In fact, one the hard rights, it sounded like it was the right rear tire that was making the most noise. At one point, the tire squealled, stopped, and squealled again as I exited to shapest point of the turn. Possible tire lift? :ninja: IDK

Might try the Delta on Sunday. That might not be that good of an idea with a soild rear axle. Well it depends on the way the drags go ;)

sounds fun. and who knows, they might have payed the lightning to be out there, to prevent people from being real dangers to everyone else.

is there a tech before the race ? were the tires all aired up to the proper pressure ? wonder how that would help playing with the pressures front to rear ?

No tech, the only thing that was asked was how how track time I had
