I figured it was time to build a neat setup in my Park Ave's trunk. I've never tried fiberglassing before, so hopefully it turns out OK. There's going to be one Type R on either side, and an amp in the middle, that way everything will be out of the way to see the air ride tank/ get to my water traps.
This is what I've got so far.. 2 layers (only one pictured), and I'm just waiting to pull it out of the car and start adding more. I only started 1 side so far.
Using 1.5 oz chop mat and some off brand Polyester Resin (ebay special :/ )

After I've got the plug side done I'm going to do the old standby, woofer ring held up by dowels, stretch fleece, then glass that.
I'll put more pics as they come of course.

Id like to know where you got the FG from, and how much it cost you. When I have looked around here, it is rediculously priced, and there is no way I could justify spending the money on it...
Sorry for crapping... it looks like a good start!!

i pretty sure u can get it at any home depot man or lowes .... i mean u could get a sprayer for a day or 2 and do it that way or u can make it all by hand

I love my Type R's.. I had one in a 3cu ft box tuned to 33 and it sounded great and got loud.. but the box was huge and you couldn't see my air ride setup, lol.
I got my resin from ebay, the cheapest I could find. I got the fiberglass from here:

It's pretty cheap I think.

prolly like 5 or 6 on the two bottom molded pieces, then I'll just add layers on the front/woofer side until I get like 7 or so.

Hey I had the same thing on my back porch. Then I tossed it as I new it was going to suck before finishing it. lol.
I hate it when you jump on a project then later realize "WTF am I doing this for!?"
Corner loading works for some. Not for me.

Got a cold + work and holiday = not much done. I did this though.. I wasn't enthused enough to flush mount them, no energy, barely got this much done, haha.
i dunno if they quite got the cool shape i was looking for, I'll prolly test fit them in the trunk to check before i actually glass them.

looks good clutch !!
love the buick looks pimp !! :scpimp:
just a little hint :
get paint sticks from the store (for free) and use them to support the rings. also you can wrap the fleece around it and then fasten it to the mdf (if your box is not all glass like clutch) this will stop it from ripping ath the staples.

they sat all weekend when I was camping, so they were dry enough to toss in my trunk for a test.. I think they're gonna look pretty good.

Alrighty, here's what I ended up with. I was going to cover them with the grey-ish velveteen on the air ride mounting board, but I couldn't find any, so I got blue and grey vinyl. I've never done vinyl before so I'm not too dissipointed in this for a first time.
The amp rack will have the greyish vinyl on it. Not sure what I'm going to do with that yet.. I'm waiting for my amp to be repaired because it was DOA.
All those wires and stuff will be hid under the amp rack board. The LOC goes behind the tank, it was just out because I was futzing with it.

Right on the tank, on the rear side so it lookes cleaner.

I finished them off with a T and the dump valve coming out the side and airline going forward. The side of this whole setup in this pic is the side that's facing the back of the rear seats when installed.
