i got an ecotec for next to nothing the other day and im probably gonna build it up for a turbo. im looking into making it be able to handle in the 400 hp range and around 8-9 thousand rpms. im just wondering if anyone would be interested in it after im done.

i have a 3400 in my alero. we had a car come into work with 60k on it with a broken timing chain so im gonna tear it down and totally rebuild it sine they put a junkyard motor in the car.

why not just sell it as it to someone here, and let them build it up instead of you building it up and investing thousands and then selling it for less than you put in it???

im confused why you would think you would make some sort of profit

im heavily thinking about putting it in my s10. its a 91 with a 2.8 and it has no power at all. plus i think it would kick ass to have a 500 hp 4 cylinder in an s10

anyway why would somone put a junkyard motor in an alero when the only thing that was wrong with that motor was the timing chain???

Because most likely it is an interference engine and caused damage to the valves and/or pistons also.

took out valves in cyl 1,2,and 4 aand damaged the piston in cyl 2. not too bad to rebuild it to stock its gonna cost me about 300 bucks or so for new gm parts. i work at a buick dealer that also used to sell oldsmobile so i get heavily discounted gm parts. also in case you are wondering most shops anymore don't bother with rebuilding head. if a valve is bent you either get a new head or motor.
