Sometimes, especially on an incline, when I put the car into park, I hear a click noise originate from the gear shift/transmission area (Automatic trans) a couple seconds after putting it in park. Also when I start the car, you can hear a loud click noise from the transmission and the car moves a little. It is as if the car wasn't in park to begin with. It is like it's "popping" into park.
Anyone know of this type of problem?
It seems minor to me now, but can this get alot worse?
It is a 2000 Alero with the 2.4 litre.

This happened all the time in my old integra. Basically your holding the brake when you put it into park, the clicking noise happens after you take your foot off the brake right? Most likely your linkage is a little worn and when you take your foot off the brake the car rolls just a tiny bit and the linkage catches, makinging that noise. Do you set the handbrake as well? If so, and your parking on an incline, the small movement of the engine when you start it cause enough roll to make the linkage catch. Again i had this same problem with my integra, the linkage was a little worn, i never parked on an incline though, the movement from me getting in or out, and causing the car to move made it catch. S your linkage is either worn or just out of adjustment. Not really a big deal, just move the car a little after putting it in park to make sure it catches, should only take a small amount.
