Rolled up into the garage around 6pm, lifted her up and went to work. 5 hours later and the beotch now runs smoother than silk.
Bought her a few weeks ago at 107k, did an oil change and brakes but nothing else. Made a list of all the problems, and completed all the exterior work today.
Dropped the oil again as its now at 110k miles. Dropped the tranny pan and filter. Was impressed and relieved that it did actually take 7 quarts to refill it. This way I can be satisfied that it is full. The magnet in the tranny pan had only a dusting on it, and the tranny shifts mad smooth now. Seeing the lack of metal on that magnet made me happy. Bolted her back up and no leaks.
I got 34.5 mpg out of my last tank of fuel despite the fact that the check engine light was on. The work I did today fixed that problem, and now I hope to get even better mpg.
I replaced teh back oxygen sensor first while the car was lifted, it was easy as pie.
The front oxygen sensor, behind the manifold was fun not so much. You have to remove a heat shield which the bottom bolt has likely rusted beyond recognition. I was able to get it off after a can of penetrating oil and about 8 beers.
I pulled the spark plugs, and sure enough there were those bosch +4 plugs in there. If I ever find the homo that did this I will give it to him like hes never had before. LOL! Replaced them with AC Delco Iridiums, the ones made by NGK.
Fired her up and can't believe how smooth she runs. :yahoo:
