Better get a second opinion cause that sounds like some BS to me, off course I don't believe anything out of anyones mouth that I have to pay to do something.

is anyone on here work in a body shop that could take a look at it?

07-23-2008, 03:19 PM
we don't have frames

$700 seems high, but might be accurate. it's going to need some work to get all those dents to be smooth, it's not like just popping them is going to make it look awesome. and paint will have to be blended, lotso money.

ask bdyman

I had some dmg done around that same part of the body. Mine were more severe, but still in the same area and the job was the same. It cost me 650 just for that.

bdyman should be around somewhere.....
he will probably tell u it is quite costly to fix because the panel is one piece that is needed to be welded back on when removed.

canned air and hairdyer may work on that panel

700 sounds about right for that

blah blah ya ya ya
ok from what i see the door is damaged, so is the 1/4 panle, 700 is cheap for what ever this guy is goin to do ,
the door r&i belt molding/door handle/ mirror/ body side molding/ door frame molding, door frame applique, just that right there is costly
1/4 panle, R&I body side molding/ drop down rocker molding, tail light, drop down rear bumper, again costly
where i work body labor is up to 65 an hour so take that into consideration for just doin that work above, the door is about 5 hour dent, the 1/4 also about 5 hours, so take 10x65=650, plus paint time at 65 an hour which it would be about 6 1/2 to 7 hours paint time 7x65=455, and that not including, cost of material/hazordous clean up/ sand and buff/ you would be looking at over 1,000, so for this guy to say 700 bucks ya it`s cheap

and yes we do have frame rails, rear frame rails, front frame rails, and upper frame rails

Midgear
07-23-2008, 08:09 PM
lol.. over 1000 bucks for that little bit of damage.. that is nuts.

YALEROYNOT
07-23-2008, 09:22 PM
that sounds right to me. I had a guy put two door dings in my rear door and he paid over $600.

bdyman
07-23-2008, 10:26 PM
well nothing is cheap, restoration and custom work labor rates start at 85 an hour, and go up from there, and you want quality ya gonna pay for it

Midgear
07-23-2008, 10:32 PM
I'd tap it out with a hammer or take a damn toilet plunger in an attempt to "suck" the dent out before i paid 1000 dollars to fix all that shit lol.

it looks like a 50 - 60 dollar fix to me, but im no expert on body work-

cherrington17
07-24-2008, 08:39 AM
^...and with comments like that...your gonna make bdyman shed some tears...

shit son, there is no such thing as a $50-60 fix in bodywork.

bdyman

07-24-2008, 01:40 PM
ya i''d have to say bdyman is right. its gonna be quite a bit to fix that. The dents are in bad places and it looks like it might be kinked right on the edge of the panel by the door.

JOEY GLADSTONE
07-24-2008, 01:45 PM
you paying mostly for paint, and all the damage isnt on one panel so you need the 1/4 panel reworked along with the door and then get both of them painted, if all the damage was on the same panel then it would be about half the cost

bdyman
07-24-2008, 11:17 PM
like i mentioned in my first post its labor rates too, where i work body labor is 65, paint is 65, so look at my first post, it adds up quick

and to you meadus101, it would be temtping but 1, i would not leave my kid for long periods of time 2. would be impossible for me to bring all my tools, thrid you come to me tell me what you want when the car is done i`ll call you to pick it up

Midgear
07-24-2008, 11:29 PM
ok, find me all new mounting hardware for my rear bumper cover so I can put it back on the car correctly

bdyman
07-25-2008, 07:32 AM

Midgear

so you need all 4 brackets, and do you need the upper stiffner, ya know the part that the top of the cover mounts too by the rear body panle, i can get ya a price on monday iam off today

I need everything that mounts the cover to the car.. the two side brackets, all push pins, screws / bolts / nuts ... a new cover too because the one that tore off is all scratched / broken on one corner..

hell i've only got 4 zip ties holding it on right now because I got sick of all the "LOL WHUT HAPPNED TO YER CAR DEWD LUKZ LIKE SHEEIT"

bdyman
07-26-2008, 09:53 AM

A bolt literally snapped in half right next to the very top...luckily i dont thin theres any damage..

jayson_waltz
08-06-2008, 01:30 AM

deathwish666
08-06-2008, 06:33 AM
What should i do about it?

learn bodywork!

haha cheapest way to do it

or you might be able to go to a junk yard and yank off door and panel (idk for sure) then have it painted

kwhauck
08-06-2008, 09:54 AM
yep $700 is cheap, i had a dent about the same size, here is as they are fixing it, $2300 and they had to repaint 3/4 of the car to blend it so I had them just paint the whole car and throw in the extra money.......
