So I was detailing my ho this morning and while I was cleaning the steering wheel the top part split. It is just the outside covering, so I cut out the bad section and it looks stupid.
Any ideas on where I could get a new outside cover rather than a junkyard or getting the sweet one size fits all from the local auto parts store?

do you mean the leather wrapping on the steering wheel? Probably have to go to GM and get a new wheel, or go to the junkyard. Anything else probably wouldn't look too hot. I would leave actually changing the wheel to a pro, because of the airbag, and the fact that that you need a special puller to remove the wheel. An alternative would be to drill holes in it for a regular wheel puller but I'm not sure how well that would work.
I've removed the airbag myself, but, I'm not sure I would recommend it to someone else.

if you can cover it with this, well there ya go, a shortcut but it's good to do things the right way :)

Yea, I was going to suggest a Wheel cover from like... Wal-mart. But if you wanted to go the extra step, you could have one from PFYC, One that Laces together to cover completely.

If you go straight to wheelskins.com you can request free leather samples to pick out the colors your want.

Same thing happened to mine a long time ago. It sucks driving like that. What color? I bought a brand new, never installed tan leather wheel, but I have since decided I'm switching to a gray interior so I won't be using it. If you're interested, PM me.
