so, i've seen pics of people having the insulation removed, that is attached to the underside of the hood. does this make a difference? if yes, why?

sound and heat
you can hear the engine more on the outside, and the hood gets hotter. i did it for more sound from the supercharger.

What is the reason you want to remove the insulation? If ot is because it's dirty, they can be cleaned with a garden hose. I have done it multiple times.

I don't know how true this is, but Ive heard that the insulation helps control underhood fires. My dad told me that in case of an underhood fire, the little plastic things that hold it should melt, thus releasing the insulation and sort of creating a fireblanket on the engine.

that insulation would be burnt to a crisp and flamable as hell before those pins melted

By the time it gets to that stage the engine bay is toast.

and it wouldn't put out the fire at all even if you threw it directly onto a fire. actually, after you take it off, throw it onto a bonfire and see what happens

I guess the idea does sound kind of farfetched, just wanted to run it by to see what you guys would say.

lol..
I've heard that its not really BAD.. but its not exactly GOOD for the paint on the hood to reach temperatures like that- but it seems to me if the car can sit outside under the hot summer sun, freeze in the winter, get pelted by hail, endure salt covered roads, withstand detergents / cleaners.. and still shine like new, then I seriously doubt a few extra degrees on that particular spot is going to effect the paint-

...it'll put out the bonfire quicker then you say "DAYUM! thats fast!"
