Hey guys i just lowered the front of my 99 alero with the ST springs and put the KYB GR2's on too but there doesnt seem to be a big difference in the height of the car or the gap in the fender well. Does anyone have a close up pic of and alero with or without springs so i can compare? Thx

Thx for the help guys now i have another question. I put on a FSTB and i only have the front one on. Is it normal for the bar to make noise when turning and should it be so stiff to where it feel like i have no power steering when im going slow? I got the bar from RSM racing and Im just trying to see if this is normal Thx.

That shouldn't affect your steering at all. It just makes the body stiffer so there is less flex and roll when you corner.

yeah, the STB shouldn't rattle at all. I think something is messed up with your springs and struts if it isn't lowered and its making noise. Who installed it?

no there isnt anything wrong with the struts or springs. And the noise went away after driving it for awhile. I think it just adjusted itself or something to that effect. And now it doesnt feel like the power steering isnt doing anything it just feels like the front end is way to stiff compared to the back so until i get my back springs on im gonna take the strut bar off. OH yeah are the sway bars on PFYC any good or are they just not that much better than stock. Thx

wait you put only the fronts on and not the backs, maybe thats why things are a lil weird even though I dont think it would cause anything, just weird to do the front and not the back at the same time

Yeah everything is all better now that i put the rear springs and struts on. The only thing different is a little more road nois but i expected that to happen and man do i like how it looks lowered and the new struts help the ride too all though when i go over a bump it reminds me of my truck. OK well thx for all the help guys.

Where can you purchase the ST Springs from? I don't think I've seen them on PFYC/TireRack/Summit or anywhere else

Sway bars make a huge difference but try and get end links done at the same time

Has anyone had a problem with the front strut tower brace making noise? I have narrowed it down to being the brace and nothing else..It sorta squeeks when conering at low speed and and when the car is shaken it squeeks. Any ideas?

it should be bolted down so tight that it can't squeek...

My front STB does not squeak at all. However I do get some whine from the alternator because the bar sits right on top of it. Almost sounds like a supercharger whining. I also noticed that I can feel the engine vibrations a lot more because of the fact of the bar sitting so tightly up against the alternator.

Hey okay guys I have another problem. Now that everything has settled out and ive had some time with the car i have an issue with tire squeel. Every time i come around a corner the front tire chirps or squeels. Im not sure if it has to do with the camber or the fact i have a front strut tower bar and not the rear one yet. Big O tires wants 300 dollars to do the camber because they say it needs a camber kit but there is no way i am paying that much cash for a front end alignment. Anything you guys can tell me would be great. Thx.

how fast are you going around corners when it squeals? mine do that without a stb if i corner at anything higher than about 20mph. you dont need a camber kit, that is bs.

Im saying that it doesnt matter if im goin fast or slow it squeels. And if its cuz of the stb im gonna have to take it over cuz i cant be getting pulled over for what sounds like spinning tires.

is it just me or is this guy just makin no sense at all :huh?:
stb braces should not make noise`s in fact they don`t
has to be with something with the springs not siting right on the strut
anything below 2 inches ya need a camber kit, iam at a 3 inch drop right now and my guy didn`t even need a camber kit
and why would you lower the front and not the entire car is beyond me, that right there made no sense
i think that guy is tryin to bend ya over for 300,with no lube...lol.....

yea, lol ^^^^ camber kits from Summit are about 40-45bux for all four tires. They are replacment bolts for the strut to spindle mount. Im lowered approx. 2in and my camber was fine on the allignment rack.

First Off the car is lowered all the way around the front was the only part lowered for one day and that was because of time constraints. Second i had said previously that the stb wasnt making noise i asked the question if it might be the cause of it. like it was making the front end to stiff and the tires werent holding traction around corners. More than one alignment place told me that the problem had to be with my camber angle. One place wanted to charge 300 and that i am guessing is mostly in the labor hours but the other place said it would be 50+whatever the kit cost them but they werent sure if they could adjust the camber out far enough to fix the problem.
