I got a RF amp that I am wiring up now and 2 12"-MTX's that I am putting in my truck, How do I get the stock head unit out and wiring my amp, etc. to it? I am fairly new at the whole speakers world so anything helps. Thanks

1sy off, truck or trunk? if u mena trunk then the Alero HU just pull off the trim and take the screws out. I'm gonna guess by the ways its worded you wanna wire your amp off the stock HU, which in that case you need a line output converter.

I think this is what you are talking about.
"http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=1863065" or
"http://www.crutchfield.com/S-CRA5juA8g8I/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?I=142SLC4"
I am pretty sure the WM closest to me has them.

I would ask ryan where to get a good LOC, I can't remember the site. you will want to find the wiring digram for the harness and splice in to that, or do what I did and solder speaker wire to the rear 6x9's and run it down the carpet in the trunk and put it there then run RCA's from that, it's easier IMO.

I just found it at CARTOYS of tulsa for $20. So thats what I am getting tomorrow then I will go from there. I guess I will hook my amp to my speakers and get everything ready tonight and go from there.

Ya most of them LOC's are junk.

If your going to use the factory head unit at LEAST get a good LOC.

I ran all my wires and bought the part and wired everything up exactly like it said everything was running fine then I couldnt get any sound to the amp so it said to add wires to the ground wire and thats were everything went WAY WRONG!!! Now my instrument panel is out none of the needles work and now my A/C is not working at all. I checked the fuses on the drivers side and the ones under the hood and all was good? Any help? I am in desperate need. Thanks

There should be a fuse panel on the passenger side, I'm not sure if thats where the fuse would be for those though.

Nope, I just checked all of the fuses on that side and still nothing. I called "Car Toys" and I told them what I did and what happened and they said the Line Convertor might be bad or something else. Now after work I have to go up there and let them take a look at the car.

I guess in the wonderful wiring job that I was doing I guess I shorted out the BCM and now its going to cost me around $400 to get it fixed.

soory i wasn't on the site sooner, not the cheaper route but you should have either gone to walmart and gotten an bezel and a deck with low level outputs (RCA's) it would have made the install go alot smoother. high levels are a pain i've tried it twice, once in my dad's 99 silverado and once in my stang, i didn't even hook the amp to his and it squeeled with the wires spliced in so i removed it, in my mustang it had a constant noise (ground loop interference, wined like a turbo with the engine, i did everything ground- wise that i could, it never worked right. low level is the way to go. i have also done budget setups with 2 spliters and a tape deck converter, they sound just as good, and nothing can really be screwed up i put one in a BMW and the other in a Focus
sorry for the story, just PM me if you have any ?'s
