Squeaky Rear End

Beotchs rear end be squeaking when it hits the bumps. Could it be anything BESIDES the struts? Afraid that I'll replace struts and then beotchs rear end still squeaks. :(

what do you mean by squeak? like actually creaking/squeaking or like thumping....bc mines been thumping since i got it but someone told me it was just the jack in the back hitting bare metal

Mine did the same thing. its not technically the struts, its the strut mounts. they break down over time and allow the top of the strut to hammer against the top of the wheel well producing a squeeking sound. fixed mine and the sound was gone. that was a year ago and no problems since.

Ok great, thanks. So its the mounts at the top of the struts, correct?

ya it acts as a cushon between the body and the strut. if u ask for strut mounts any mechanic or parts guy should know what you need. good luck.

put a little vasoline on the rear when you are going to bump it....sorry I had to go there.

your better off replacing the struts and strut mounts at the same time, but yes they are rear upper strut mounts (lower strut mounts are actually part of the strut, its the 2 holes where the bottom of the strut mounts to the car) but if your going through the trouble of taking out the struts you might as well swap in new ones with new mounts because im sure you wouldnt want to go through all that trouble

no, not that much work, but you need to get teh strut disassembled to get the plate off. Why not do the strut at the same time putting it back.

it only took me half an hour. you need a spring compressor though Ill warn you about that. if you try to take off the center bolt on top of the strut without compressing the coil first.... well if you survive what will happen you will be pretty pissed about the incident lol. my advice is to either get step by step instructions on the procedure for removal (available online http://www.partsource.ca/doityourself/JOM_April2005.asp) , or get it done at a shop. I did my own but I have the advantage of access to a fully stocked auto shop.

oh and monroe makes a set of rully assembled gas-x struts that include pre installed coils. this would mean you wouldnt have to bother with the whole spring compression crap.

its not that hard is just you need to rent a spring compressor each time you want to disassemble the strut, so you might as well bang it out in 1 shot rather then do it twice.
