I have everything stock on my 2002 alero gl, I've blown both my rear speakers 6X9 's obv....I need to know ...well honestly if it's worth going to gm and getting new ones?...what type they are the speakers have 4 wires from each into a harness....basically my friend is saying go out and spend $$$$$$$$ on a whole new system....I'm not sure what I should do so any input or questions to me would be great...
Thnx,

Not to mention I want to add 60W + 60W amp in the back....anyone think it's worth it or would I be wasting my time?

depends on your budget. If you just want stock replacements sure go to Gm. I would just get some nice 6x9 speakers and upgrade.

money isn't tight...i know very little about what to buy or even look for...few hundred wouldn't hurt me to spend on audio related stuf in the next week or so and a couple more in 2-3 weeks....

Hopefully Ryan from Ohio will chime in soon.
If he doesn't PM him, he's the audio guru 'round these parts.

Well the kicker is the rear speakers dont make or break the car.
I dont have the monsoon system like you have... But when i put in a real system I removed the rear 6 x 9's. Im back to stock for about a year now without any rear speakers and nobody seems to notice or miss them one bit in my car...
So I wouldnt let the dumb 6 x 9's in the back throw you for a loop.
If you want to upgrade still...
Get a head unit first, run to stock fronts.
Get some speaker tweaks from www.secondskinaudio.com and install these
Get a set of components 5.25" in your price range ($80-$10,000 is the range).
Get a proper amp to push purchased components and proper wiring.
Or buy it all at once if you got the $ saved.
If you do replace the system at all costs you are best served without the 6 x9's (or any rear speakers). Most new people cling to them like they are special, but they are the worst thing in any system period- (unless properly set up!)...

what is a monsoon system?...not to mention what's the diff between this system and a "regular" stereo system?

I don't have a system but after 5 years all 4 speakers in my car were broken.
I just replaced them with Pioneers. 2 ways in the front and 3 ways in the back. I forget the stock number, but they are OE fit for GM cars :ninja:

replace them with the Infinity 693.7i or 692.7i (they also have two sets of connections)
best answer i got when i asked this question. and imo yes either these or stock. i got good speakers with one terminal and i lost ALL bump in the system.

Volfenhag, A friend had front, back, and subs in his 87 Lincoln Towncar, they sounded clearer than anything I've ever heard, and I’ve herd some pretty intense systems, there cone in all there speakers is made of metal, aluminum I believe, but there pretty amazing, I think.

*kicks Kenshin in the nuts*
:haha:
Cadence has some alright stuff but truthfully most of their speakers are just cheap imports.
all relative to budget on whats good or not.
