getting it all done....will this order work:
headers -> muffler -> cat -> tips
I only ask because I took a look and the exhaust resonator is about the same size as the muffler I'm getting, and I'm wondering if I could get away with the same placement, just get rid of the resonator. if not, I'll just have the cat closer to the headers and the muffler where the cat is currently.

the resonator is after the cat noob... should be on all Alero exhausts

Yeah it's headers, Cat, Muffler, then tips.
Randy, you have the 2.4, correct?
If so, look into putting a res (a glasspak) between the muffler and cat, might reduce the riceness factor :cool:

glasspacks do nothing to reduce sound or rasp, use two mufflers, my exhaust has zero rice

well, on mine, there's the headers, then a smooth cylinder (which I thought was the resonator) then a catalytic converter (I know what they look like) then it goes back to the muffler.

The first is the Cat, then the second is the resonator.
If you look closely, after the first cylinder, theres a wire that kinda goes in the exhaust right after it. This is the second O2 sensor and it needs to be after the Cat.

The smooth thing you speak of is the cat, the res is beofre the gas tank ;)

heh....color me a n00b...
well, plan is to take out the res and put in the muffler. so, now I know what to expect it to look like under there when it's all done. thanks for the input guys.

LD9, nothing major. I just want better flow. less crap under there to obstruct flow plus less weight = faster and/or more fuel efficient...depending on driving style. lol

I've done the exact same thing :p
What size piping are you going to use and what muffler is it from Magnaflow?

sticking with 2.5 inch. should be good for a high-flow NA.

^^Nice. It will be high flowing alright. 2.5" exhaust with a straight through muffler is the way to go. It might be a little loud though with the 4" muffler, unless you like it loud, then nevermind :p
