What would the easiest way be to wire the White gauge overlays like albinomonkeyrat is selling. I want to be able to dim them, Would the easiest be to shave some of the positive wire down and solder the control box to that? I already have a ground back there and I can use that. But I was wondering if any of you have any suggestions.

^depends on your skill.
you can get "wire splicers" where you just slide your new wire into the hole, clamp it around the wire you want it spliced to, and crimp it
OR
cut the original wire, and solder all 3 ends back together (both cut ends and the end of the new wire)
OR (cheater way)
shave some insulation off the old wire and just solder the new wire on it.
(i've never had this way work, for a long period of time, effectively)

i spliced it into the harness coming from the guage...was pretty easy and you probably use wire taps to make it easier
shave some insulation off the old wire and just solder the new wire on it. (i've never had this way work, for a long period of time, effectively)
maybe some heat shrink

ive never spliced like that.. lol
I just cut around the insulation, reveal the wire, wrap whatever wires together, electric tape = so far so good.

from an electrician stand point... NEVER wire wrap/twist connect DC power wire.
