So my hazard light switch presses into the dash on my car...i figure I should get that fixed...
first question...that is the recall problem right? the hazard light presses through the dash?
second question...is this gonna cost me anything, like in labor costs or part costs?

haha...yeah, I love how GM just decided that certain VINs were affected. Mine was lucky enough to fall under a set of VINs that are covered.
its a real easy fix, u take off the gauge cluster trimming and then just pop the hazard switch out, unplug it from the back and then plug the new one in and pop it in place and your good to go.

Last year when I bought the car, the mech's at the stealership didn't even know why the turn signals were only working intermittently. The dumbass said he drove it and the signals worked just fine. So I had to pay to have the switch replaced though when I needed to get my car inspected.

I have the same problem with my hazzard button on my 2000 Alero. When you push the hazzard button the whole thing goes behind the dash. It's sucks because people have a tendency to push every button they see when they get in my car.

any one need a hazard switch I have a new one from the dealer (thought it was bad and wasn't the problem ) and the one in the car (parting it out ). I never had this problem cuz the switch was changed before I got the car.
pm me with your offer. I think I paid $30 at the dealer but offer what you want it for shipped.

I had the recall issue with my hazard switch in my 2000 Malibu. Every time I tried to hit the turn signals nothing would happen, and I would have to repeatedly hit the hazard button to get them to work. I just took the damn thing apart and wired in a generic flasher from Autozone. $7 fix.

What's a hazard switch? The delta looking symbol switch is need to complete the circuit to start my car.

Meaning you have a push button ignition there instead of your hazard switch?

it's easier than that....you don't have to deal with the gauges or their trim at all. Just pop out the switch with a flathead, unplug the old, plug in the new and snap it back in.

I just had the same issue. I called the GM dealer here and made an appointment and they fixed it. No charge due to the recall. The guy did tell me that the lil plastic part that broke and allowed it to go into the dash only costs 4 bucks, so he just let it go. But

I just got my hazzard switch replaced. did it myself and took about 20 minutes as I was having difficulties getting my big hands in that little space to get the screws out... I took it all the way out to check everything.... Got the switch from gmpartsdirect.com. I love the new switch!!! Much quieter than the one I originally had.
