does anyone have personal experience with a system that uses brown's gas? i've heard that some hypermillers get over 100mpg? it seems feasible that the big energy companies buy them out.

HHO doesn't work.

it defies the first law of thermodynamics. Your using the same amount of energy to break the bonds, as you are gaining from it later. Its a big steamy load.

Thats the argument.

I disagree.

If I can use 70-80 amps of juice on my stock alternator to power an amplifier with no efficiency loss on the motor there is NO reason why I cant devote 10-30 amps of power for splitting water. Thats the bottom line these so called experts fail to realize and rationalize in their arguments.

I've read up on the hypermiling forums, and the only ones getting over 100mpg either are pimping a scooter or walking with a gas can. I'm pretty sure you can modify a prius to get over 100mpg, but regular gas hypermilers top out in the 60-70mpg range.

This comes up from time to time. It's not that brown's gas/HHO doesn't work. It's that effective implementation of it has some hurdles. Someone popped into the forum a month or two ago talking about doing an HHO Alero, but we never heard back from him.

he said he was in classes, and the idea came up, and he was researching it.

i don't think he had the current know-how, and he said he'll update as he knows more about what to do, and how.

i'm intrigued to see his results though.

Ive done some research on it, actually a decent amount.

Theres a few factors why I havent done it yet besides uncertainty.

1) Some people are saying you need to tap into the MAF to adjust the air to fuel ration to compensate for the HHO gas/fuel. Some say you do it by spacing the Oxygen sensor out a certain distance and some have you using a special black vodoo box.

2) To get the best effect you need to be efficient. A wire wraped around plastic with straight DC power isnt the best. a PWM power supply to the HHO generator with a fair amount of surface area and some sort of safety device are in order. But to do a PWM supply you basically need to build one.

3) You want a fire suppressor. If for some reason it backfires up your HHO tube it will blow stuff up like a bomb. The suppressors are just brass barbs with a plastic tube between and have brass wool stuffed inside it.

yeah.... H2 and O2 are essentially rocket fuel.. just not liquid like nasa uses... not something i want in my car. just a little too... unsafe.

Ya I posted a while ago on the subject (Im the guy from about a month ago lol). havnt had any real breakthroughs. its not producing the hydrogen thats the problem, its the fact that hydrogen loves to detonate on its own at a lower temp than gas. after blowing up a couple one cylinder test motors and one harley v twin I just got too pissed off to finish the project.

I'll get back to it when I can afford to blow some more stuff up for the sake of science. (carbeurated engines did respond better than efi tho). trouble is that (not yet tested.) the egr system would prove a huge problem in terms of air temp pre ignition of hydrogen gas.

Where was all this reseach and internet BS back in 2000 when gas was $1.20 a gallon :rolleyes2:

BTW I hate Hypermillers. I always get behind the large SUV going 15 under the limit. If you have to drive like that, time to sell and stop making me late for work :p

the specific site i was lookin at was http://www.gas4free.com/. based on just this site, i'd say it was bs, but it does have some interesting points.

i do remember reading in popular science that some eccentric guy with an interest in mechanics modified his muscle car to get 143(?) mpg out of it just doing things in his shop. now i'm not saying that popsci is the end all of authorities, but hey, they silenced tesla.

so water as fuel and tinkering with engines in unconventional ways may save the planet?

I definitely won't say that it can't or won't save the planet, but it's about like having wandered in the desert for 3 days with no food, and standing on one side of the grand canyon, only to see a table full of all kinds of good eats on the other side and you just can't reach it. How the fuck are you gonna get there?

lol I didnt kill a harley, just a spare harley engine lol. scrapyards are wonderful places u can find any engine u want.

ok, this guy has not only gotten patents, but is designing a water powered hummer for the military.

his plasma torch runs on water as well!

running a car on water might be OK in HI, but it's 20* right now in Philly, last time I checked water freezes at 32* :rolleyes2:

i'm sure his 'water tank' is heated.

It has to be.

Isn't the entire thing to run off of steam?

...then it won't freeze!

But is the warmer running during the night when the car's parked?

If so, doesn't that waste more energy? ;)

...it could be a gas/water mixture which won't freeze or a battery powered warmer? if he's making a hummer, he has it down.

IDK, just seems ike one of those "too good to be true" deals
