Can you use a used bcm?

Wondering if a used bcm from a different car would work ok, since I guess they get learned in or something. Want to replace mine but don't want to spend the $ on new.

Usually it has to be programmed. I had a EBCM that I purchased used, and the ABS light would not go out until it was programmed.

Either of them EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module) or BCM (Body Control Module) will have to be learned to the car before they will function.
