More FG going down.. on my car this time! I just got my 2nd cadence amp in so it was time to start the amp rack build. I'm going to be stretching from the top lip of the rack down to the outer trim piece they're mounted on.

Fiberglass isn't that hard... It's just most don't have the patience for it and a lot can't stand the smell... Looking good!

The smell ain't a big deal with a respirator.. you don't hardly even catch a whiff of it when you're wearing one. It is tedious though.. lots of dab dab dab dab
with a paintbrush, yuck, and then the sanding, oh lawdy. But its worth it when you're done!
Thanks tho, appreciate the comments.. er.. jealousy, whatever it is, haha :P
Here's the work from today

Found this great stuff at the fabric store today.. 250 a yard and super stretchy, plus it's pretty thin and doesn't soak up much resin (only used about 10oz to fully wet it out!)

Been kinda busy.. doing the body work sucks :[
But I've got all winter, so I've been sanding like 1 puddle of Rage Gold per night.

very nice...i love the amp rack
i am going to start learning..i got all the material but i have 2 questions...what does the temp have to be like for this stuff to dry? and if i did it in my basement would it stink out my whole house?

for the top.. i think the colder it is, the longer it takes to dry. (longer could lead to issues, i think) and yes... it WILL stink up the whole house. if you have the opportunity (floor beams can be see in the ceiling of the basement) i'd hang plastic sheets down and make yourself a pseudo-paint/work room. to try to contain the smell. if i remember correctly, the resin? is like really strong paint thinner type smell

Dear God don't do it in your basement.. you'll regret it for like 5 days!!
I've did the amp rack in like 30 degree weather.. it takes 2 days for it to dry, and seems to warp a bit, but it'll dry. If you've got a propane heater, point it at the FG while you're working so you'll be warmer, and it'll cure faster. So yea, you can do it, it'll just take a looong time to cure.

And if working in the cold, use thinner coats of resin and reapply... It will take a longer time that way, but it less likely to warp.
And Hell No don't do it in the basement... Every piece of furniture, clothes, drapes, carpet, etc. will soak up that smell and it could stink for weeks... I don't mind the fumes and smell in the garage, but I can clear it out quick by opening the bay doors.
