So my car was broken into about 2 and half years ago and I had my head unit, sub and CB stolen. The thief just cut all the wires and didn't take the time to take the wires out properly, ha. Anyway, ever since I got a new head unit my reception sucks, I do not get AM radio and majority of my FM stations cut out half-way through songs.
The installer told me that the antenna wire was cut and replacing it might solve the issue, I just don't want to pay $100 to get a new wire if it wont work.
Any other way to get my reception working again or am I stuck listening to my iPod while driving?
Thanks!

I would start checking the junk yards and ebay for the antenna wire... should be much cheaper and should solve the problem.

Well, the junk yards around here never have Aleros, usually have to find items online or on eBay, but I will keep my eyes open, I appreciate the response...

^ i have that exact thing in my car, it did help quite a bit. but i'd check to see if your stock booster is getting power thats what make the big difference. the module it behind the passenger c-pillar. one wire is for the rear defrost and one is for the power antenna
This guy seems to think so

Run your own wire from the headunit to the box by the defroster. splice into the green wire.

^ty for the wire color, i forgot it
but save time and wire by just finding a wire that is hot with the key in the harness behind the side seat bolster there and tap into it. thats what i did and it works great. you will be surprised by the difference. i still have the aftermarket booster too so maybe thats why i get awesome reception lol

Haha no problem. Yeah I didn't think about tapping a source in the trunk :haha:

I guess I will have to do some checking. What exactly should I look for, is there anyway to get pictures? I guess I do not understand about looking at the stock booster and making sure it has power.
Thanks again, have even more stuff to try now...
